Even the free demo version contains potential for hours of unique gameplay, unlike many other games where you either need to buy outright for what turns out to be a terrible game or can only be played for a few minutes. I’ve read other reviews that mention bugs or frequent crashing, however since the newest update (15th July 2024) I haven’t experienced them. I would love to see more variation, in terms of enemies and environments, feels like a great base game which will be monumental with the right additions. I have a tiny gripe with choosing leaders as there is often one that is way better than the others, and I end up having less of a choice in that process, maybe an optional point buy system with traits and art could be implemented as well. This added complexity might seem daunting at first, but it also makes the game incredibly rewarding once you get the hang of it. As much like how in slay the spire, you will get a few card + relic combo that make your dopamine fly up to heaven, the many unique interaction of wild frost charm interaction add in tactical depth that is all the more satisfying. The game game heavily incentivizes creativity, pushing you to think outside the box with your card plays. For instance, where in Slay the Spire would it ever be beneficial to play a card that harms your own character? In Wildfrost, such unconventional strategies can be the key to victory. Unfortunately, I have a few issues with the app itself. Elements of the UI need tweaking/reworking for mobile (selecting charms when you have a lot, picking a card to play when your hand gets full (I had a draw 1 trash 1 when hit and it made my hand so full I couldn’t distinguish cards)). Some performance issues when “clicking” (I have an iPhone 15) where the first press doesn’t seem to be registered. Additionally, cloud syncing needs lots of work.
