WindHub: marine weather & map

Guys, really love this app as a long time fan of windy, this is brilliant. I think for me as a sea kayaker in the UK the extra features like nav don’t currently have admiralty data I can see and it doesn’t seem to factor in local tidal current changes around a few coast lines I’ve checked the tidal speed isn’t updated. Its brilliantly laid out and the overall journey planning is one of the best visually I’ve seen.

I use Windy and find Windhub so much more easier to view the basics than scroll through a side listing to overlay certain aspects. Graphics are bold and clear too. Unsure whether to sign up for the pro version at the moment

Now that they made pressure fronts a paid thing i have gone off the app. Im not gonna pay for something i can also get off the internet for free. Just do ads

The app seems fine. But I can’t be sure because I’m neither willing to sign up and pay £39 now (with no trial) NOR £59 (after a 7 day trial). Get a £20 discount if you forgo a trial? That seems overly manipulative. Pay £20 more if you must have a trial? Final nail. On a positive note, it’s a great example of an anti-pattern. Comp Sci tutors will love the up to date reference. I’ll stick with Windy. 🤷

There are plenty of free apps that are better then this out there

I’m not to keen on the app. Radar is not accurate and it’s been pouring rain here for the past 20 minutes and the radar screen shows a light rain blob a few miles away and nothing else while other apps are showing all the rain pouring now. What is shown is just blobs. It’s cumbersome to use. I do appreciate the tide and swell data but I can get that from my other 2 apps I use for weather. I’m not sure if this app is for continental US use. I’ll try weather routing, but guesstimate is fine as the charts are definitely not something I’d actually rely on for navigation. Maybe for ocean crossings? I’m trying to make good use of it but it isn’t living up to the hype. I hope it makes a positive difference for others. In response to developer: thank you for the reply. I already use Windy as one of my 2 primary sources. By continental, I mean: within the USA waters. I’m not sure I would rely on routing using those maps to safely avoid underwater hazards or even rocks and islands. So I’m not understanding the emphasis on charts usage. I checked it out against my chartplotter and it did not match up. So, I say it’s better for larger crossings with deep waters where there is much less chance of hitting small islands or rocks. I hope this clarified. Thank you for replying.

There is no way to import routes from other apps. The routes you do create are not available on other devices. So if I create something on my iPad I can’t view it on my iPhone. Poor design. I assume that the people that did the software are not actually sailors.

It requires you to pay $80 to change the forecast model. The default one isn’t accurate in my area making the entire app useless.

App is absolute dog water. The developer asks for screen shots of where this thing freezes. It’s on every boot up. Whoever y’all are using for QA and UAT should be fired.
