FEATURES:
• Wind report, forecast and statistics: wind map, accurate wind compass, wind meter, wind gusts and wind directions. It’s very useful for extreme wind sports.
• Wind alert: Set up windalert and be aware of wind, storm and tornado warning via push-notifications
• Weather history (archive) for 2012-2021: view wind data, temperature (day and night) and atmospheric pressure. Weather archive will help you to choose the best month for travel to the spot.
• Local forecast from NOAA: temperature in Celsius, Fahrenheit and Kelvin, humidity, wind speed, precipitation (rain and snow). Forecast for 10 days with 3 hours step in metric or imperial units: m/s (mps), mph, km/h, knt (knout), bft (beaufort), m, ft, mm, cm, in, hPa, inHg. NOAA is a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration / National Weather Service (nws).
• Wave forecast: ocean or sea conditions, ocean waves and sea swell, fishing forecast
• Animated wind tracker: weather radar for sailing, yachting and kiting in light wind
• Cloud base/Dewpoint (dew point) data: necessary weather information for pleasant paragliding
• Spots: over 30.000 spots sorted and located by the type and area. Add your spots to favourites.
• Spot chats. Got anemometer? Share info about weather conditions and wind direction in the chat from a kite spot.
• Community: exchange weather reports on the spot. Want to be a local/spot leader? Email us the name of your spot at [email protected] and we will create a chat for it.
• Weather Stations: online data from nearby online weather stations.
• Offline Mode: activate offline mode and check the forecast for your activities without internet connection.

I tried the free version to test the app then it renewed for $200 and the app isn’t what I was looking for

Windy app, wind and weather

I am trying to get rid of this app and have not found a way to do it. I can hide it. I can remove it off my main screen, but I cannot delete it.

The Best Weather App - Hands-down - Seriously

I have long been a lover of the sheer data-blast that is Earth Nullschool. It’s astonishing, but not a quick-reference iPhone app. Then along comes Windy.app (funny name, esp. for Brits) but - this is a very seriously capable piece of coding. It does exactly what this kind of application should do - gathers rather diverse data that changes moment-by-moment and presents it in a rapidly digestible format. There’s nothing else that slakes your data thirst and gets you confident in the weather of the next few hours and days. It gets you into the reality of weather modelling and if you want it, it will give you a real-world sense for the variation that occurs in weather prediction modelling. And it’s gorgeous - so well presented visually. So just get it and - critically - pay for it. Because this kind of high-end data harvesting and curating is an incredible service. Support these folks. You will be glad you did. I just spent 8 days in Cuba and this app optimised my time on and off the sand! Some further comments added after seeing some other reviews - first, I am not associated or connected to the producer of Windy.app in any imaginable way. I have paid for my subscription very willingly and entirely by myself at full advertised cost; I am a bog standard regular user. That out of the way, I will say two more things after reading some comments by others. First, because this application is harvesting enormous amounts of data in the same way as Earth Nullschool, you cannot possibly expect anyone to spend time coding this or maintaining the processing effort of data collection for free. That’s the normal nature of the world. If you want high quality journalism, you pay for it - and there really is a categorical difference in value - YGWYPF. Ditto with the weather data analysis and presentation here. Second, the app is accurate. It presents real time weather data output from government and NGO weather analysis organisations. They don’t take raw data from satellites and Doppler radar servers and own multi-million dollar super-computers themselves. The high quality weather data is given to you in a truly accessible graphic format. Weather models these days are as processor demanding as any other modern super computing programmes. So the data flow is enormous. The value of the numerous different forecasting models that Windy.app is sending you is also very high. We are boaters, knowing the weather especially the wind forecast is an absolute must. Cup of coffee and my windy at the start of every day before going out. When sleeping at anchor, the last thing I do at night before turning in.

The only app

The only app I use before getting on a boat. Never got to use the pro version.. not sure if the annual subscription fee is worth it

Idiotic

Trying to use the app and it's demanding that I rate it. I just want a weather report. With that demand in mind, one star and avoid at all costs. Idiocy.

It’s ok

Not very accurate I find my self checking this app a lot to go fishing only to be disappointed when I get out to the lake. I am using the free version so not sure if pro is better but if I’m going to buy it I’d at least want the free version to work. Today April 26 2024 the windy app reads 10kph in my area however all other weather source read 15 or more and My anemometer reads 17. So if this could be corrected it would be great.

There's no free option, but they do allow a one-time purchase which is the only reason I gave them 3 stars and not 1. There is a ridiculously long survey before they even show you the prices. The lifetime is the only sensible option otherwise you'll be renting the software. The survey only gives you options for sports. I want it for commercial fishing wind data for my friends.
