### ***** "The best way to read magazines on iPad"
The Wired app is a joyful revelation. 

All other magazine apps (including other Conde Nast titles e.g. Vanity Fair) recreate printed page layouts. The low-res images and arbitrary text columns are just wrong on a touchscreen.

In Wired, each article is typeset vertically. Scroll down to read, swipe across to navigate through the magazine. Wonderful!

I hope this layout tech is rolled out to more magazines. It might even help save trees, the environment, and the planet 🌏

### **--- "New version goes backwards"
Wired magazine app used to be outstanding. For some unknown reason it was replaced with something that was a poor shadow of its forerunner. Disappointing that a supposedly tech hip mag would think releasing an inferior UX is OK. Can we have the previous UI so I can re-review at 5 stars?

I eagerly awaited this latest issue, which promised to be retina compatible. However I was dismayed by the 789MB size. I was frustrated that this app does not support background downloading. I started the download, quit the app to do something else, and returned later on to discover my download had paused. When the download finally completed, and I started to the read the magazine I found that not everything is retina. Much of the text ads were fuzzy. Normally I don't look at the ads anyway, but seeing them like that is just distracting. I will not be renewing my subscription this month.

### **--- "Poor update for Retina Dispaly"
Again WIRED is a technology magazine that does not do technology - sigh. The fonts in its articles on the retina display look like you have been drinking - not crisp like you would expect. This is after the upgrade for the retina display  Titles nice and clear - text terrible.  Not the first time this app has failed to live up to the quality of the writing in the magazine - WIRED - you should be ashamed.

### *---- "Good magazine but app has problems and support is bad"
I'm an iPad edition subscriber but I've had many problems with this app that have left me very frustrated.

When launching the App I'm prompted for my iTunes password, the screen and keyboard will then rotate making it difficult to type my password. If I get my password entered correctly or incorrectly the App will still fail to load and I'm dumped back out to the home screen.

I've re-installed the App and re-downloaded my issues once, and while this fixed the problem for a short while it came back after a couple of days. Re-downloading issues is something I try to avoid as here in New Zealand internet connections are typically capped, sometimes as low as 5GB a month.

I've not been able to access or read new issues for several weeks now which is very frustrating. Wired's support page for this app doesn't let me complete the form and submit a request for support instead it gives an error that I must submit a valid city though there is no field for city!

Overall I recommend you try this app with the free content available but stick with buying the paper version until these bugs are sorted out and the app is better supported.

This is a good magazine app, the main thing that let's it down is the fact that if you migrate away while it is downloading an issue the download pauses. Are the people who made this app so pleased with the download bar the we should watch it slide across to 100%.
why can't it download in the background or have a setting where you can choose for it to download automatically when connected to wifi

Forced to re-download about 5 Gigs of data after the recent update deleted all issue data from the app.

Also have been charged again for one issue which I purchased and had installed previously.

Not very impressive.

I, too, have just run the update, and all of the editions that I've purchased have vanished. This is my favorite mag app, but am I REALLY going to have to repurchase each issue? UPDATE FAIL.
