WNBA: Live Games & Scores

You can opt to turn scores off but not hide series results.The app gives you the finals series results anyway. For example it shows 1-0 after game 1 so it spoils the result. It will also default display the next game in the series at the top. This also spoils the results. If it’s 2-1 in and 5 game series and game 5 shows, I don’t need a score to know who won. Should take a look at the NBA app as this doesn’t spoil game results when you can’t watch live. It’s not super well set up, takes some scrolling and searching each time to find full game replays but works well enough to be able to catch games.

Updating in *2024* to note that the app gives the series result, letting you know who won the game, even if “hide scores” is on. As the other reviews say, this has been happening all playoffs and all we have from the developer is “make sure the app is up to date”. Why not just take the option to hide scores out if they’re not going to be hidden! — As a long time NBA fan far too late turned onto the awesomeness of the W I have to say this app does the Women a disservice by being far below the basic functionality we can expect from a sports app in 2022. While the basic functionality to present games is fine, the main reason to watch the games in an app rather than on TV is if you can’t see the games in real time, and the main job of the app is to allow you to get home from work and log on to watch the game without spoilers. The NBA app has a setting that allows you to hide scores and overall does a good job allowing you to watch a game that has already happened without knowing who won. Tonight for example, in a crucial game 5 winner take all semi between the Sky and the Sun, I dutifully quit the app and try and navigate back to the Archive without seeing spoilers on the front page. The game doesn’t show up there, only game 4! But then when I go to the front page to watch I get upcoming content from the winner, and a link to the game that does exist in the app, just not where it should be. This isn’t rocket science. Also, when you try and watch the well edited condensed games / extended highlights, the font is too small to read and so on the iPad you have to click on an icon to find out what it is. Please either license the NBA app for parity or invest in an interface designer the games deserve better!

Still tells you who won??

I just downloaded and subscribed in order to watch the playoffs and carefully ticked the ‘Hide scores’ option only to find they hide the scores and the games results but still show you the series result!! So I now know the result of the game before I even start…. The primary reason people use this app, is to watch games, and you’ve spoilt it before we even start! Fail! P.S. I will not be resubscribing.

App freezes with the new iOS update 17.5 can’t get past the Home Screen.

I love the WNBA but I won’t subscribe till I can Chromecast from my iPad.

Last year during playoffs I was so stoked to use the app for all my steaming but this year it’s a whole other story. Firstly, not being able to hide the scores surely is UX 101 for a sports app. My app keeps crashing. The landing page is so confusing it took me about 10 goes to find out where to even watch the last game. When I click through to some pages I land in a page within a page which then crashes and I end up back at the homepage again. It was impossible to figure out that my league pass has expired, and then when I did figure that out it was so hard to resubscribe on the app I ended up just doing it on my computer. There are just so many problems with this app, it’s poorly made, seemingly without any specific UX considerations about who the user is and what they need. Hire proper designers not just some off the shelf product that you’ve hacked. I would have given up but for my love of the WNBA. Do better.

This app is so poor now, really hard to view past games.

We love the WNBA and have used it over the past few seasons. However it has been sooo disappointing this year. It constantly crashes, especially when casting. It becomes almost unbearable to watch. PLEASE fix it!! It would also be great if the scores could be hidden. When watching games later, it spoils it by knowing the result.

Right now for me I am unable to watch any past game. The app just cycles me between signing in to my leaguepass and start free trial. Sooo frustrating. I also cannot find how to suppress scores, so given I watch from Australia, usually on delay, I don’t want the outcome to spoil me watching the game.
