Description

Wolow is a wake on LAN app that allows you to remotely start up a computer by sending a "magic packet" request.
Simply add a device configuration inside the app, select the device you would like to start up and then press the power button and as long as your configuration is correct you can watch your computer startup.
Wake on LAN is a network protocol that is supported by the majority of Ethernet cards available. Before using the app ensure your computer is fully configured to work with the wake on LAN protocol. A guide on how to set up your computer can be found within the app at the bottom.

Wolow Reviews

Pretty awesome and convenient

Only reason for the 1 star removal is because the status is stuck on pending but still responds to all commands. iPhone 15 Pro Max

Concerned

The app is easy to set up and use however I’m concerned about my privacy. Wolow says they won’t collect any personal info but I’m not sure if I’m 100% safe.

Rewriting review I was wrong

So, I’m rewriting my review because I was dead wrong. In my case, I have a Dell Precision 5560 using an Xfinity router. I basically followed all the instructions they listed: - BIOS configuration - Network adapter settings - Installing the software - Setting up Xfinity port forwarding And for the life of me, it wouldn’t work. The reason was that I was using a Dell 7-in-1 USB multi-port dock, which I presumed didn’t have enough power. Then I got a Dell WD19 docking station, and that was the game changer. My laptop needed a higher wattage, so make sure you get the proper wattage for your PC. As soon as I hit power on, shut down, reboot, lock, and sleep, they all worked. Look, I know it’s frustrating, but I promise you, just be patient. It works.

Works well and figured it out on WAN.

It took me a second for Wake on WAN as im kinda new to networking. I Have a unifi Dream machine pro. Here’s how it works for me. Configure your Bios Configure on windows Install companion app VPN for your network (I just use the teleport VPN in my UDM Pro) Create a device entry into the wolow app Fill in everything the as normal but point the Ip Address to the specific ip of the computer you want to wake. Set a static Arp entry or bind your computers MAC address to a FIXED IP you have given it In my Udm pro i set the ARP CACHE timeout to “min DHCP lease”. Connect To VPN and send magic packet from app So far it works great however i had to create a second entry in the wolow app for LAN because the packet wont send from lan to the specific ip. It appears that when im at home on my network directly (no vpn) it must be sent to the broadcast address (x.x.x.255) When VPNing into my network broadcast packets cannot be sent. So having 1 entry for wan and one for lan is really only a very mild inconvenience.

Works minimally

It requires fields like the MAC address and the ip of the device you are trying to access even if you would theoretically only need a gateway ip and a port. The companion app doesn’t work easily and has no UI to offer trouble shooting or really anything. I also couldn’t get the device status to work with the paid version. It does what it does and nothing more.

works
