Can’t say enough great things about this app. It’s the perfect companion to every run.
Recently bought the app for hiking with Apple Watch Ultra and it is brilliant. The maps on the watch are very clear. Easy to follow a route. The app is totally configurable which means you have a lot of choice but if you are not very techy this may be overwhelming. Having said that you could easily use it with the default settings. Highly recommended for a large range of sporting activities. I’m very impressed with the app.
It's not good at tracking casual lane swimming. Take a rest between lengths and it might add an extra length. You can't trim a save workout, so if you forget to stop it, you're stuck with the redundant data. It's also very bad at transferring offline maps to the watch. It works occasionally, but rarely. I think you have to be on Wi-Fi to do it as well but I'm not sure. Frustrating. Otherwise excellent, and outstanding overall. One more thing. I appreciate there's no iPad app because iPad doesn't pair with the watch, but it'd be nice if it could use iCloud sync to let me view my data on the larger iPad screen.
I did have a period of full app crashes and data loss, and neither I nor the developer could figure out the cause. It hasn’t happened in a while though so I’m gonna assume user error and revert my rating back to the original four stars. Four stars because the app is still in need of some minor visual polish; the black clock background isn’t centred correctly (on my watch at least) and the Watch complication icon has some dodgy aliasing. Otherwise great app, deep and functional.
Not compatible with the latest iPad software release
Finally a watch app I can use to navigate on a mountain bike ride. No messing about just the ability to glance at my watch to see the map and trail. Buzzes when I’m off route. The only thing I wish it would have would be a haptic notification if there’s a junction or change of direction but I’m not sure if that could be implemented.
If you’re looking for a fully baked, informative workout app, don’t look any further. It’s well worth the price, there is no way to be disappointed once using it. Get it now.
A fantastic app to track your workouts
I just bought an Apple Watch Ultra and also have a Garmin Fenix 7. I have been wanting to just use one device but found the Apple workout app to be basic to say the least. The worst part of the standard Apple workout app is that I cannot read the screen whilst running as all of the data fields are the same size. Workoutdoors has excellent customisation for running metrics, I’ve managed to mimic my Garmin exactly and find the info easy to read and very clear. The action button for laps and the 2 button pause for traffic lights are really useful. I did my first 15 mile run with it yesterday and using the AWU was a better experience than my Garmin as I could ask Siri to play Go! By public service broadcasting as I entered my final half mile. Really pleased and a great value app.
I love using this app, and can customise. I just wish they had a option for ice bath for when cold plunging or saunas etc
