Linguee is a new kind of dictionary app for French-English, Spanish-English and other language pairs. You will find reliable translations in the shortest time, even when you're offline.

SPANISH-ENGLISH AND OTHER LANGUAGES
Dictionary for Spanish, French, German, Portuguese and many more. All dictionaries are bidirectional - you search simultaneously in Spanish-English and English-Spanish.

EDITORIAL DICTIONARY
Our editorial dictionary was compiled by over 200 lexicographers in order to be capable of providing answers to the most difficult of queries.

TRANSLATION SEARCH
Additionally, with the help of the integrated translation search engine, you have access to over one billion translations from the Internet. 

QUICK SEARCH
Translations of words and phrases are shown after entering just the first few letters. Even inadvertent typing errors are intelligently corrected. 

OFFLINE MODE
The editorial dictionaries can be downloaded for free and are subsequently available for use even when you're offline. This allows you, for example, to look up terms while you are abroad and have no data connection.

EXAMPLE SENTENCES
You will find examples sentences containing all the words you search for.

PRONUNCIATION
All of the dictionary entries have been recorded audibly by professional speakers.

3D TOUCH
With a light press (Peek) on autocomplete entries you will get a preview of the corresponding article. You can also Peek at a word will show you translations for the relevant words without leaving the article. Quick actions: You can open previous searches straight from the home screen simply by pressing the Linguee icon lightly.

Unfortunately, Linguee does not have a reporting option on their website to bring up the bug that I am experiencing frequently.

 As a professional translator, I heavily rely on this application in order to deliver accurate terms and it’s unfortunate that they’re unable to receive vital feedback. 

I have owned this application for over three years and the same bug persists: After looking up a term, the term remains in the search bar and you are unable to clear the search result even after 10 to 15 seconds clicking the clear button.

For professions relating to mine, time is of the essence, and therefore this issue remains a critical one. Developers, please, for the love and sake of fellow linguists, and language specialists, please fix this nonsensical bug.

This app requires to connect to your local network even when you have downloaded a dictionary to use it offline. No other dictionary requires this. Until they properly explain why they do so without hiding behind the ridiculous excuse “we cannot disclose the technical details”, I prefer to have the app uninstalled.

This application is pretty useful to understand the meaning of words in a foreign language. However, it claims that it is a dictionary, even though it translates words. I wish they would add definitions of words in addition to translations and context.

I love the Linguee app! One of its best features is the versatility. I am studying several languages on Duolingo, and often flip from there to the Linguee app to find a particular word. The pronunciation feature is very clear, and the many examples of the word in sentences from various sources is also very very useful. I highly recommend this app.

The beauty of Linguée is the list of source references for each word that gives you some context. This is very helpful when a word has a secondary, figurative meaning. A combination of the various dictionary meanings of a word and usage examples is unbeatable. The only problem is that the app freezes regularly - maybe every half-dozen times it’s accessed. Closing and re-opening the app fixes it, but it is *by far* the worst app on my phone in this regard. Still, it’s worth the trouble.
