Linguee is a new kind of dictionary app for French-English, Spanish-English and other language pairs. You will find reliable translations in the shortest time, even when you're offline.

SPANISH-ENGLISH AND OTHER LANGUAGES
Dictionary for Spanish, French, German, Portuguese and many more. All dictionaries are bidirectional - you search simultaneously in Spanish-English and English-Spanish.

EDITORIAL DICTIONARY
Our editorial dictionary was compiled by over 200 lexicographers in order to be capable of providing answers to the most difficult of queries.

TRANSLATION SEARCH
Additionally, with the help of the integrated translation search engine, you have access to over one billion translations from the Internet. 

QUICK SEARCH
Translations of words and phrases are shown after entering just the first few letters. Even inadvertent typing errors are intelligently corrected. 

OFFLINE MODE
The editorial dictionaries can be downloaded for free and are subsequently available for use even when you're offline. This allows you, for example, to look up terms while you are abroad and have no data connection.

EXAMPLE SENTENCES
You will find examples sentences containing all the words you search for.

PRONUNCIATION
All of the dictionary entries have been recorded audibly by professional speakers.

3D TOUCH
With a light press (Peek) on autocomplete entries you will get a preview of the corresponding article. You can also Peek at a word will show you translations for the relevant words without leaving the article. Quick actions: You can open previous searches straight from the home screen simply by pressing the Linguee icon lightly.

### ***** "My Best friend for Learning Languages"
This is a pretty advanced dictionary with detailed definitions, explanations and examples. The UI is also simple, neat and user friendly. It also includes pronunciation audio but it would be better if it is with the audio sign besides the word instead of navigation for it through buttons. For verbs, it would be more helpful if you could include conjugation charts! Thank you very much for creating this amazing app that is always my go-to even at the university!

I really like this app. I didn’t find any offline dictionary like this. Most of them are online and if you want to have it offline you must pay for premium. But this one is very easy-to-use and the examples in both languages you chose, are written below that word. But why is the last update for 2 years ego? 🥲

Why would this app “require” access to my local network to work? I don’t allow any apps access my local network. For anyone wondering, this permission allows apps to collect information about all of the devices connected to your WiFi network. This makes most sense for video apps and music apps that stream to a television or speaker. But a dictionary app? For what purpose would a dictionary need access to the devices on my network? Why isn’t this articulated in the permission request? It feels quite invasive and nefarious. There is a complete lack of transparency around why they need this permission. Sorry but this goes against building trust and transparency with users. It feels sneaky especially since this permission is completely unnecessary for an app like this. I’m out.

It gives me all the information I need including gender of a word, the part of speech, and examples of how it is used. I like the feature that has a pronunciation, but I would still like to see the standard IPA as a reference. Many languages like the language I am learning now, French, are phonetically challenging and having both tools would be highly useful. Once I see IPA for pronunciation, it’s a five star app!

### ***-- "Great dictionary, but the app itself is glitchy."
This app is so far the best of everything I tried in terms of dictionary, there are a lot of usage examples and overall quality is great. On an iPad you can use it in multitasking and it automatically catches what is copied. Five stars without any doubt. = An update. I am still using it as my default En-De dictionary but God knows how glitchy it is. Sometimes it would just freeze for ten seconds or more, sometimes will crash. It has made my iPad restart more than once. This is all really frustrating, so I am lowering the rating to three stars. Still, the dictionary itself is great, really hope devs will fix the app.
