## WTA Trailblazer Description
Explore 4,000+ hikes with Washington state’s most trusted app. Get the latest trail conditions in our trip reports. Check our maps for fires, air quality and snow levels, and use our search filters to find trails for kids, dogs, or wheelchairs. Save hikes you want to do in a list you can access offline.

We offer verified driving directions to trailheads and important info about required passes, permits and closure alerts, as well as personalized recommendations of hikes based on what you like. You can also post trip reports from your own hikes to track where you’ve been and help other hikers know what to expect.

GET OUTSIDE SAFELY
- Trailhead weather forecasts from NOAA help you know what the weather’s like on trail.
- See what on-trail conditions are like using snow, fire, and air quality layers on our maps.
- Red alerts highlight trail or road closures so you know about them before you get to the trailhead.
- Check trip reports to see current road and trail conditions and seasonal features like ripe berries or fall foliage.

FIND A HIKE
- Customize your search with filters for length, elevation gain, passes and what features you want to see on trail (waterfalls, rivers, great views, etc.).
- Use our kid-, dog- and wheelchair-friendly filters to find appropriate trails.
- Find hikes near you using your phone’s location or use WTA’s Hike Finder Map or region filters.
- Find hikes based on pass and permit requirements.
- Difficulty ratings help you decide if a hike is right for you.

MAKE AN ACCOUNT
Creating an account with WTA lets you save hike information for later and access it offline, including the driving directions to the trailhead and detailed trail descriptions. You can also get personalized hike recommendations in your account based on where you like to hike. Plus, when you have an account, you can:
- Like or comment on other users trip reports
- Post your own trip reports and share the pictures you took on trail. The more hikes you save and trip reports you write, the better the recommendations you get.

## WTA Trailblazer Reviews in United States

### ****- "Great with room for improvement"
Easy to navigate. Wish I could edit my trip reports in the app and filter my hikes.
-- RepresentationMatters, 2025-08-20

### ***** "Must have for any WA hiker"
Really the absolutely best and free app for all wa hikes
-- Martmanius, 2025-08-08

### ***** "The best trip reports"
Love this app for checking trip reports and specific hikes
-- Campgrl7, 2025-07-27

### **--- "Wish I could rate higher"
I used to love this app. Now it just crashes before I can search for anything. I'm lucky I can even get logged in! Once I open the search function, the app closes itself. I can't do anything with it. (iPhone/iOS 18.5)
-- aconibel, 2025-07-14

### ***-- "Very slow app"
Servers are junk.
-- JimmyJoeJimmyJoe, 2025-06-14

### *---- "FIX THE TEXT SIZE!!!!!!"
The tiny text size makes this app a miserable experience. And it doesn’t support dynamic type, so you can’t even change it in your iPhone system settings. There are loads of complaints in the reviews for this and you refuse to do anything about it. I think I’m just going to delete the app, and stop supporting the WTA
-- WellEarnedSiesta, 2025-04-25

### ***** "by far one of the best apps out there for hiking/trail finding"
just absolutely top tier of an app bringing the Washington / PNW community of hikers together with great information to look out for and use as a guide and prep tool before exploring the beauty of it!
-- Jodi_97, 2024-10-10

### ***** "Every citizen of, and visitor to, WA should use this app."
Lived near Seattle my whole life. Used to only get out when friends “heard about a good hike”. Now, because of the WTA app, I get out every weekend.

Similar to how it’s difficult to know what to cook for dinner, because you don’t have any recipes. It’s difficult to know where to go outdoors if you don’t know the trails.

WTA is your recipe for outdoor livin’!

Get busy!
-- scatterbadder, 2024-08-14

### ***** "Access to a growing hiking guide"
WTA’s hiking guide (and related map) is a must for anyone who hikes in Washington State. All the key information is there at your fingertips! New hikes are being added all the time. The user trip reports are useful to learn about recent trail conditions.
-- Banjoyist, 2024-07-10

### ***-- "Very Hard to Read!"
WTA is an excellent organization, and the information that they have available to us is second to none. My problem with this app is the use of a very light gray font on an equally pale background, which makes it extremely difficult to read for anybody who’s in the slightest amount of sun. Also, none of the text can be resized or zoomed in on, so anybody who would otherwise need reading glasses or who are in harsh light conditions would be out of luck.
Thankfully, all of the same information is available on the web in a readable font on webpages that you can zoom in and out of for better look at certain pieces of text. BUT, once I downloaded the app, my phone would no longer allow me to look at the webpage itself, automatically redirecting me to the app, where nothing is legible. So unfortunately, I had to delete the app in order to be able to look up trail information. Which I don’t think is the point.
