I understand that there’s ads but why are we forced to buy a plan when we paid for the camera too? Now there’s a timer of 179s for live cam before they ask you to sign up for premium plans. Whats the use of the cctv then? I’m so frustrated that I might just change it all to another brand. I can stand the ads but I can’t believe we got a timer for live cam after watching an ad. Honestly if there’s an emergency to check cams and there’s already an ad before I can check. Like what’s the point?? Practically the whole screen is littered with ads.

This app has too many ads at the start and forces you to finish watching at least 15 seconds of ads before you can start using it. All-In it takes almost 20 seconds to be start viewing your camera, and most of time, causing you to miss the crucial moments you need to see. The historical records will only be available with 2-3 minutes’ lag. Totally defeating the purpose of having a CCTV, especially for urgent response. I have since switched to Tapo.

I’ve been using Yi cameras for a while and always appreciated the hardware, but the app experience has completely ruined it for me. The moment you open the app, you're hit with a loud, obnoxious mobile game ad — before you can even access your own camera. It’s jarring, intrusive, and frankly unacceptable for a product that’s supposed to be functional and reliable.

Yes, I understand there's a paid option to remove ads, but this level of aggressive advertising goes far beyond reasonable. We're not talking about a banner ad or a quick popup — these are full-screen, noisy ads that take several seconds to close, and they appear every single time you launch the app.

It's incredibly disappointing to see a camera app — one that's supposed to help you monitor your home or loved ones — behave like a cheap mobile game. Please reconsider your monetization approach. You're pushing loyal users away.

Update:
Changed to Tapo. This brand cannot make it. If you want to force people to watch ads and force people to subscribe to your service, then better give free camera to customer. We are paying for the camera yet cannot use the camera as it is without being forced to watch some dumb ads.

I bought the camera to monitor activity. End up have to go thru ads to access what I paid for. Some apps are free and have to go thru ads… understood…but in this case, i paid for something that made me have to go thru ads…. Rubbish… will be the last for this product. BTW, this is my first negative feedback for any app in years! Choose wisely. One star is the minimum… if given a choice, it will be below that.

A follow up review on this app to keep people aware of the state it has gotten to. Full screen ad the moment you open it, followed by an ad pop up when you see the list of your cameras. Every time you pop in and out of a camera, another full screen ad. If you have just gotten this camera, RETURN AND REFUND.

Was good initially , but app is getting worse nowadays .

Unable to view the alerts on the go , on my data .
Also , used to be able to see time stamp and to continue viewing from the alert time onwards …. But this is unable now .

Also , noticing cameras are going offline numerous times without any reason and back online again after some time without any action taken by me at all !

Was smooth and ok to use for many years now till some management clown decided to monetise the app for advertising. As a security monitoring camera app, all anyone wants to do is to see their camera live feed or footage ASAP to be able to react accordingly. But now, I’m inundated with a full page ad that I have to waste a few precious seconds to close at the top right cross at the corner. Miss it and I waste even more seconds being redirected to a website or app store to download other apps. Once I get past it, it’s not the end of this greedy ad monetisation. The app interface is now messy and distracting with floating ads. Worst of all, just before I enter my camera feed, I’m forced to eyeball another full page ad before I can skip to finally view my footage. 

Shame on you! Saying goodbye and good riddance. Deleting my account and app and gonna buy a proper camera monitoring device that hasn’t sold its soul in an attempt to earn more than it should.

I usually don't write reviews, but I strongly advise against using this camera if you want to use their cloud feature. The main reason is that their cloud provider (KAMI) operates like a scam. They make it difficult to unsubscribe, forcing you to pay for services you no longer need. The only way to unsubscribe is by sending an email, and they bombard you with questions before eventually ignoring you. This has happened to me multiple times, and I’ve spent hours over the phone just trying to terminate my subscription ss my emails were eventually ignored. This has been going on for months! Avoid this if you want a stress-free experience and the ability to unsubscribe easily through the app. It feels like they do this on purpose, making it so frustrating that you end up paying them every month. What they’re doing should be illegal!
