YNAB Reviews

5 year review. Perfect budgeting app

Use it with my wife and we budget everything. It’s such a great tool. Now that they added bank connections for Austria and Germany it’s even easier. Changed the way we look at our money The fee is well worth it as they constantly keep improving it and have great support. Thanks YNAB

No Austrian or German bank supported yet

Deal breaker for me. App looks solid.

Definitely well thought over concept but not for everyone. Quite frustrating to learn they do not support a single Austrian bank. Sorry YNAB , no subscription from me.

Great app and great web app. Replaced my existing app that I used for almost 8 years. Try the 34 day trial, it’s worth it. I give the 5th ⭐️ if we get basic calculator functions on the transaction add screen of the mobile app! Keep budgeting :)

The one Thing…

I don’t love some of the recent updates and think they take away functionality instead of adding to it. But it is still a great app. There is one thing that keeps me from recommending it to other people, though, because it would be very confusing for a non-mathy person. There have been instances where the app automatically reallocates money to another category and you don’t know what happened or where the money came from. Mostly from one month to the next. For example: I understand the concept of not overspending, but there are times when I need a category to be temporarily red to remind me someone is paying me back. If you have 10k in your account, but one category is short $400, you clearly have enough to cover that amount. But somehow when you go on to the next month, it shows the “ready to assign” as something like -102.86. How do you explain this to a new user? There should be a step in between months that allows us to either “accept” the previous month’s accounting, or “accept” whatever is happening to get to -102.86, WITH an explanation of the money moves. I can’t imagine that ya’ll don’t get a ton of questions trying to help people figure out what the heck happened. I’m a grown adult. If I want a category red for a minute because it helps me keep track, I shouldn’t HAVE to automatically accept some random accounting that I can’t even explain. I get the concept YNAB is trying to promote, but there are better ways to do this.
