Can’t create an account or login

Jaina2 on

United States

I used YNAB 15 years ago, close to when it was initially developed, but hadn’t used it in years. I downloaded the app to try it on my phone but am completely unable to access anything on the app. When I click to login with Apple, I get a popup stating that there was a problem logging in with my current email address. When I try to login with Google, I get an error message that no account exists. When I try to use standard login and click to reset my password, I get a popup that no account exists with my email. There is no option to create an account from the main screen when I open the app. Pretty disappointed, as I have no idea how to login or create a new account at this point. No option to contact support either, since I can’t access the app at all.

Just stop with the UI changes

Noco80 on

United States

If you are going to constantly force UI changes, can you at least give us the option to turn them off. There’s literally no need to keep adding in more “functionality”. It’s quite literally unsustainable. You can’t add features forever. Accept you have a good product and just stop. If your engineers need a project, develop a new app.

Love it

micky1121 on

United States

I almost exclusively use the app. Great for daily budgeting and entering transactions on the go if you do manual entry. Generally easy to use & navigate but they alter the UI more than I’d like. The app also tends to run slow for me. I don’t know if that’s the app itself or possibly because of a lot of stored data since I am a long time user.

Useless, confusing updates pushed out constantly that change the layout and functionality

Full_of_Grace on

United States

Every time you have updated the app this year, you have both removed longstanding features and also changed the layout of the existing features. Every time I open it, I’m surprised and confused about actions that used to be simple. The interface requires more clicks to do everything. As of today, I can no longer pin categories to the top of my budget! If you hated your existing costumers and wanted all of us to leave your app for another platform, you wouldn’t be doing anything different.

For the price I expected better

user 827467 on

United States

Had to go through several resets of my budget for it to be remotely logical. The handling of credit cards maybe intuitive to someone in accounting but it’s not how a random person would think of them. Still the app has the usual problems you see with other free apps when accounts stop syncing and you have to reauthorize. For the steep subscription I expected a much more streamlined experience and for the problems with syncing to be much better than free apps. I’m still in the fence about renewing but it’s not looking great at the moment. Every time new transactions are imported I have to go to pen and paper to make sure everything went where it’s supposed to go. It’s turning to a chore.

Great app

Kristikw1 on

United States

I’ve tried other budgeting programs (mint, every dollar) and haven’t liked them as much as YNAB. It’s awesome, easy to use and intuitive. Has helped make budgeting not such a nightmare! Been my trusty companion for many years and has helped me save thousands.

The one Thing…

Br6251 on

United States

I don’t love some of the recent updates and think they take away functionality instead of adding to it. But it is still a great app. There is one thing that keeps me from recommending it to other people, though, because it would be very confusing for a non-mathy person. There have been instances where the app automatically reallocates money to another category and you don’t know what happened or where the money came from. Mostly from one month to the next. For example: I understand the concept of not overspending, but there are times when I need a category to be temporarily red to remind me someone is paying me back. If you have 10k in your account, but one category is short $400, you clearly have enough to cover that amount. But somehow when you go on to the next month, it shows the “ready to assign” as something like -102.86. How do you explain this to a new user? There should be a step in between months that allows us to either “accept” the previous month’s accounting, or “accept” whatever is happening to get to -102.86, WITH an explanation of the money moves. I can’t imagine that ya’ll don’t get a ton of questions trying to help people figure out what the heck happened. I’m a grown adult. If I want a category red for a minute because it helps me keep track, I shouldn’t HAVE to automatically accept some random accounting that I can’t even explain. I get the concept YNAB is trying to promote, but there are better ways to do this.

The Best Customer Care I Have Ever Experienced

Dolphin2000 on

United States

YNAB is a wonderful budgeting tool, but not everything is intuitive. I had been using it incorrectly (assigning income as a category rather than to READY TO ASSIGN). After asking for help and several exmai exchanges, Bian (the customer service rep) sent me an extended video he recorded that showed me how to correct all the mistakes I had made in setting up my accounts. Now I am finally making full use of this powerful budgeting application.

Changed my life

Nittgyytbs on

United States

This is *the* single best app I’ve ever spent money on - completely changed my relationship with my finances and allowed me to finally get on top of everything and plan for the future. There’s a learning curve but once you get the hang of it, you’ll wonder how you ever lived without it. Thank you *so* much to the developer and the entire YNAB team ❤️👏❤️

The only budget app that worked for me

dohspc on

United States

I have tried them all and this is the only app that truly helped me stick to responsible spending habits. The YNAB method works and the cost is worth it! One request I have is to add divide and multiply operators to the transaction entry screen. Other than that keep up the great work and I look forward to the future updates.
