I download books to my files then send them over to yomu. Simple no frills process; unlike other apps where they promise the world to get you to download but lock all the features behind a paywall, this one gives you most of the features, only limiting how many books you can download and not having the cloud saving option, which imo is quite generous. It even lets you edit the book’s covers/info, which i was very excited to discover (sometimes you just prefer the alternate cover of a book). Considering how many apps lock their features behind a paywall or subscription I’m so grateful for this app’s creators and think they deserve all the support and I’d highly recommend the pro version to everyone even if you don’t need the extra features just to support the creators 💙

Would it kill you to make me able to choose the colour of the background and the font from a classic colour wheel? Like I’m reading on my iPad and this hideous grey font just made me nearly defeat this app

It’s Great

I want to start by saying that this is the best e-reader app I have ever used, and I don’t think I will ever use another. I have the premium version currently, but even the free version is excellent. I love how you are able to organize your library in multiple ways, and I love how customizable the reader itself is. pDFs are a little difficult to read here, but not impossible. E-books however, are perfect. I actually prefer this level of customization to any physical reader (like Kindle) I’ve ever tried. That said, I really wish annotations were easier to view. I think being able to sort your annotations by highlight color or even just seeing the color with the annotation itself would be so helpful. I tend to color code my highlights, but that’s relatively useless when the annotations come up as just a black-and-white list. I also wish that, when using scroll rather than page-flip, there was an option for to always continuously scroll, without having to “wait” for the end of the chapter (if that makes sense). But that’s a pretty minor thing that most readers probably don’t care about. All in all, I really enjoy this app. I don’t see myself using any other e-reader app in the future. Thanks developers!

26APR24: Remains the leader of the pack of nonDRM eBook readers. Yomu preserves all notes and highlights, but to open the last location on another iOS device is unreliable, which has dogged this app form the beginning. I find it best to use ‘HandOff’ feature, then commence reading. Buy it and support the developer. =Peace= =============================== 23JUN23: another useful incremental upgrade. Yomu is the epub reader leader at this time. ========================== 14may23. Supported and periodically improved. I’m a bit disappointed PDF support is read only. Notwithstanding, the epub utility of this app is unassailable. Doesn’t have seek or navigate to specific page options. It’s a real killer when you’re reading a book that doesn’t have chapters in it. Luckily I found a workaround - vertical scrolling until I found the spot I want, or searching for the last sentence I remember. Also you can’t use any fonts besides the ones that come with the app, and it no longer imports the font embedded in the epub. Pros: good integration with VoiceOver, plus excellent control over formatting. And looks nicer than Bluefire Reader.

Well this app actually got me down to reading and learning new words. This is coming from a guy who is not into reading much.

Been using Yomu for years now and it was well worth the purchase. Super simple, no major frills. It’s superb.

Hello, can you support the Chinese interface?

I am a Kybook 3 lover, but given the lack of ongoing support for that app, started looking at alternatives. This was the best option I found. The tagging system is great; the bulk import feature works well; navigation is very straightforward. Overall, the layout is easier to use than Kybook 3, and the filtering and “read status” features are awesome. The iCloud backup feature works well. I also like the ability to export annotations, though I have not played around with that feature yet. Also appreciate the wide range of supported filetypes. A few feature requests: 1. When doing a bulk import, allow the user to apply tags to all of them at once. Failing this, make a “select all” button, and/or make multi-select much easier. Right now, I have to manually tap every single imported document to apply a bulk tag. 2. Support nested folders !!! this one is huge. I have a wide variety of types of content, and a single level of folders is going to get unwieldy very quickly. Also, it would be great to be able to delete or rename the “Yomu” folder that is taking up space at the top of the folder list, since it’s useless to me for categorizing my content. 3. Increased customization of colors. I find a dark grey + faint yellow text the easiest to read, but there are only a few presets to choose from. I also find the lime green system color really hard on my eyes, and don’t see a way to change it. This is one area that Kybook really shines and where I feel the biggest difference in the switch. 4. Make the iCloud backup library visible to users in Files for easier file manipulation and export. 5. Bulk edit of metadata (adding an author, e.g.)
