Description

Zone 2 app tracks how much of your weekly workout time is performed in the zone 2 heart rate range, typically between 60-70% of your maximum heart rate.

Aiming for 150 minutes or more of weekly exercise in zone 2 is recommended, as it optimizes endurance, enhances fat-burning efficiency, and fosters sustainable fitness gains by maintaining a balance between intensity and recovery. The optimal number of minutes to spend in zone 2 per week can vary based on individual fitness levels.

Your one-time purchase of Zone 2 includes the full iPhone app and Apple Watch app.

If you do not have an Apple Watch, you can connect common Bluetooth heart rate monitors, such as the Polar H10, Garmin chest strap, and new Garmin watches, to view your heart rate zone progress live during a workout.

If you have an Apple Watch, use the Apple Watch app to see zones live on your wrist with haptic feedback, Siri announcements, and health metrics.

If you already have a different app you like for tracking workouts, no worries; Zone 2 uses all workouts saved to your device with heart rate data to calculate your weekly zone minutes.

What is zone 2 heart rate training?

Zone 2 training refers to exercise performed at a moderate intensity that keeps your heart rate in a specific heart rate zone, typically between 60-70% of your maximum heart rate. This is the heart rate zone where your body is able to utilize oxygen most efficiently, which can lead to a range of benefits for your fitness and health.

Zone 2 training is important for a number of reasons, including:

• Improved aerobic capacity: By training in the zone 2 heart rate range, your body becomes more efficient at using oxygen to produce energy, which can improve your overall aerobic capacity.
• Increased fat burning: During moderate-intensity exercise, your body relies more on fat as a source of fuel, which can help to improve your body composition and reduce body fat.
• Improved cardiovascular health: Regular exercise in the zone 2 heart rate range can help to strengthen your heart and improve blood flow, which can reduce the risk of heart disease.
• Increased endurance: Training at a moderate intensity can help to improve your endurance and stamina, which can be particularly helpful for endurance athletes such as long-distance runners or cyclists.

Had some difficulties with the app but customer support saved the day

Faimohkih on

I was enjoying the app until it started randomly stopping It’s tracking mid workout and worst of all it would not save the workout. I reached out to customer support and after multiple attempts and very thorough communication they were able to fix the issue. During that time, I tried other apps looking for a replacement and to be honest, none were as good as this one. I’m glad the bug got fixed because it’s the best app to not only track workouts, but also to specifically train in zone 2 if your looking to apply that strategy to increase your Vo2max. Great app, well worth the money!!

Simple zone 2 training tool

Nojrd on

This is a simple app to assist with zone 2 training. Recommend strongly. I follow Peter Attia and he is big on zone 2 training. Zone 2 training improves metabolic health. I wanted a HR system that would alert me when I was above or below the zone 2 range and at the same time would allow me to listen to a podcast. Anything above this is more than I wanted. Keep it simple. Found this combo with the zone 2 app and a $50 Garmin Dual HR strap.

Zone 2 app

Thelastlumbee on

The app has frozen every run at different points. I linked it with Strava but only used the zone 2 app to try to have the announcements and set up goals. It crashed once on a hour long run not recording anything. Froze again stopped recording but kept announcing the zone changes. Froze a separate time not announcing or reading heart rate froze at top of zone 2 and wouldn’t move. And once closing the app out to restart it, the app stayed open continues to run in the background with the app closed. So a lot of issues i love the concept just some bugs that need to be worked out. If your jumping in for a ready to go flawlessly app this one is not the answer.

Absolutely worth the price!

One of the rare apps that I'm satisfied I paid for it. This app is incredibly awesome and I LOVE the visuals. Super helpful. Elegantly simple. Very motivating to see. And I LOVE the "open goal" option for each time I work out. THANK SO MUCH for all the hard work on this! I've recommended it to my sister and friends!

App just crashes

App just crashes on iPhone 11pro running iOS 17.4.1.

Constantly disconnects from HR monitor

Gerdelyi on

Constantly disconnects from Polar HR monitor and will randomly connect to other blue tooth devices and apps. Then will not reconnect.

Great app, WONDERFUL CREATOR

Katie_____ on

I love this app, however, I saw that there was a little bit of a disconnect for the timed zone training having to click the plus button multiple times… I emailed the feedback to the creator and within the same week Shannon was able to add the feature to the app. The app is already amazing for my workouts but the feedback timing is beyond my imagination. 11/10 recommend!!!

Exactly what I was looking for!

Trip Astute on

I was looking for app that would help me stay in Zone 2 that was customizable and simple. This app meets all the requirements. Also, I can run it primarily from my watch, which allows me to use my phone to watch content while I indoor cycle in zone 2. I honestly can’t think of anything I would change in the app.

Exactly what I was looking for (plus one wish)

jeandenishaas on

It’s really useful that it tracks the time spent in each zone on top of your total time spent. Apple Watch voice notifications are great whenever you go in and out of zones. The design and UI is very clear as well! Highly recommend the app so far! My wish: - tracking steps, showing you how many steps you took for the whole workout Also need to check if voice notifications can be through headphones instead of watch speakers. Overall super happy with it!

IT’S THE ONLY ONE!

mimegallow on

I’m a heart patient with a diagnosis that requires a MASSIVE amount of specifically zone 2 cardio in order to live a normal life and this is the ONLY way I’ve found to track the number of minutes I’ve spent in zone 2 per day… in order to reach my doctor’s recommendations. I’m very thankful for this app, and couldn’t (only partially exagerating) live without it.
