Geleneksel/yerel müziğin önemli çalgılarından biridir. Başlangıçta ağaç kabuğundan yapılan “boru”, daha sonraları bakır ve pirinç levhalar bükülerek de yapılmıştır. Bu çalgı geçmişte, curna, zurr, sarna ya da sorna ve Farsça olarak sernay olarak da anılmıştır.
