I’m very disappointed with AllTrails. I unknowingly started a free trial, forgetting I had used it years ago, and was charged for a full year without warning. When I asked for a refund, they refused. Mistakes happen, but this rigid policy and lack of understanding make me feel undervalued as a customer.
If someone sends me a link with a specific trail, I click it, you force me from your website to open it in the app and then you are showing me random trails, not the one from the link.
I really liked AllTrails and have been using it for 5 years. But for long trails, even if downloaded it is really slow. I had a pro subscription in the past and got one again so I can download the map for a long trail I am doing (Via Transilvanica). First, I had to give my account to a friend who had a laptop because you cannot load gpx files straight in the app (and I am already on the trail). Then, when I finally added it, the app is too slow (unusable), probably because the trail is very long (1400km). To top all this, I now have a subscription for a year (because it cannot be cancelled) which I will not use.
They offer an 50% discount for the first year but they take 100% from me. I was not careful when I made the payment and I paid 100%. Shame of you with this kind of fraud.
Why did you remove the estimated time feature? I looked for this feature and is gone…

I'm so sick of reading about an app, downloading it, signing up for it, only to find out that I have to pay an annual subscription just to use it.
UPDATE: Previous issue resolved. Solid hiking app. Very well done maps with plenty of trails that are lacking from other sources. Which is useful because my main complaint now is that it doesn’t always let you know when you went the wrong way on your route. So pay attention to the map and you’ll be fine.
Good for finding info on trails, but the tech is glitchy for recording trails. Failed to keep me on route and would not resume after a pause. Recorded a 4 hour hike as 38 minutes.
All trails does a great job of showing me trails in my area, but only a few hikes. I would like to be able to choose some trails and make my own hike and name it before I go. Please make that for me.
