I used my Alexa set up a while ago and everything was great, it all synced up and did what it was supposed to. After a few months of being unplugged for renovations I can’t get my studio or sub to play anything (yes I have tried all the recommended fixes)  not only have I unplugged and recreated everything but when I do no music plays through the Alexa but through my Sonos speaker upstairs that I wasn’t even aware could connect. 
All in all I’m not impressed with how this has gone.

Possibly the most useless app I’ve ever tried to use. Registered my Sonos speakers — when I speak to Alexa on them, it accepts my instruction but then says “Sorry, that device is offline”, despite the fact that I am speaking to that very device and Alexa is responding on that device. 

Then I look in devices and find that the three devices are each duplicated, with the ‘real’ ones saying they are offline, and duplicate ones apparently online but impossible to access by voice, via the Sonos app or Spotify app. And also impossible to remove. 

What a joke.

The Alexa and its devices serves a limited purpose right now and is a glimpse of what we might have in the future, but lack of understanding and deliberate limitations hobble the features and leave it a mere novelty. 
The web has got both better and worse since its popularity spiked. The future of commerce seems to be deliberately reducing features to increase subscriptions. It could have been beautiful, but it won’t be.

Very frustrating despite good staff on the end of a phone call.  Rebooted every device (I have three Echo 5s), installed latest software, checked broadband strength (which is super fast). But the “drop in” and “call” commands just don’t appear to work, or when they do it’s only periodically.  Purchased the devices for an elderly relative, and in theory should have been ideal to use to keep in contact.  However, after many hours/days trying to fix I am kind of giving up hope.  The money isn’t a problem. I’d pay twice the amount for something that works as a device to help our relative - but looks like I’m going to have to look at other ways of doing this.

It is unresponsive and very frustrating, not helpful when it’s designed to be a tool to aid. We are often having trouble with simple repeated requests, even have to try to activate the command via the app and it still doesn’t always work. Stops working part way through songs, or the sound gets louder and quieter throughout the track. 

Randomly listening when people aren’t talking or no sound has been made.
