Kindle

I’m computer and device literate, but find the operation systems of kindle some of the most unnecessarily complex and least user friendly of all!

I am 82 years old. I have always, while leading an active life,read a lot. My bookshelves were for ever growing until I ran out of wall space. Kindle has solved my problem. Easy to research. Easy to buy or to use Kindle Unlimited. I read and order on my iPad or iPhone wherever I am and read with devices synced. Kindle has the huge benefits that books are stored on my device, I can sync with Audible, look up words an definitions while reading, and read whatever the lighting conditions. I do read hard copy books too but I miss the ease of reading with Kindle and swiping the page to turn over. To know with Kindle the time left in chapter and book. Notes and highlights that I have made to be easily reviewed later. I do understand the romance of holding a hard backed book in its dust jacket but over time the practicality of Kindle read on my iPad wins out.

I’m enjoying being able to read a book anywhere, though given the very short chapter style of my book of choice could be adding to my experience. However I don’t find the app intuitive. I’m basically stumbling around clicking all over my screen trying to figure out how to bring up buttons and then testing them all, because I have no clue what any of these symbols mean. So nice once you’ve got a decent book and can enjoy it. Tricky to first get started and needs a tutorial to be offered.

Can’t imagine without this app now. Used it for many years and value the synching across iPhone and iPad. Easy access dictionary and bookmarking. Definitely a great tool for all sorts of books and pdfs.

Don’t go shopping with the wife without it lol
