Good product but they make it unusable after a few years to force you to buy a new model. Not great for the environment or for my pocket.
Recently I cannot connect my Anova anymore
One star until this app removes its clipboard snooping.
I’m no expert chef but this app and sous vide machine really does help me deliver great five star quality food
The idea of a bluetooth controller to manage the Anova Sous Vide device is great unfortunately the app simply does not work as it should. The recipes are lovely but the basic functionality needs to work and it DOES NOT. Setting the temperature and time should be 100% reliable .. Cook at X temperature for Y minutes. You can set the temperature to X and the device will beep when it reaches that point but if you then want to cook at temperature X for Y minutes it FAILS completely as the clock keeps stopping when the temperature drops briefly. I tried to cook something for 40 minutes at temperature X .. but after 40 minutes had elapsed the clock was reading 37 minutes. Another major flaw is that if another app takes focus on your iOS device the bluetooth connection drops and the iOS device no longer is controlling the Anova and the timing and temperature feedback to the device are lost. This app needs some fairly fundamental re-design and coding to work properly - otherwise it is a pretty (but useless) recipe book. I really like the Anova appliance but bluetooth control via iOS is a waste of time.
Anova introduced a subscription service after I purchased my sous vide. They grandfathered me in to continue to use their app, but now I need to re-login every time I want to cook something. Their product is fine, but trying to get people to pay a subscription to get basic app features on something they already own is pretty obnoxious. Recommend buying something that gives you this functionality (setting the temperature remotely and checking on its status) for free.
Scummy company disables advertised functionality of device to strong arm you into buying a new one. If you’re considering buying, this will not happen only once. Anova will cripple your device just like they have others, mine included. Stay far away.
No longer connects to the AN500 models when it previously did. Also transitioning to a subscription based app after it previously being free to use is beyond lame
App will not work unless you create an account, even then it’s glitchy.
