The calculation seems to be based on the number of points measured during the time it takes to draw it. What I mean is, you can draw a good circle really quickly and get a low score, or take your time drawing a bad one and get a better score. It's certainly not based on the actual shape.
Really annoyed that the update wiped my top scores! Not cool!
Surprisingly addictive, but disappointed that the update wiped out my high score without any warning. :(
