Apple Books is a great app for reading, but the persistent display of the book title at the top of each page is incredibly distracting. For me, this makes the app nearly unusable. I would love to see an option to hide or remove this element from the UI. If this issue were addressed, I would highly recommend this app to others.

I love apple books - except for the highlight exports, which makes the app almost useless for me. I haven’t found a way to export the highlight in order, and also there is no page number or color of the highlight included. It is possible to copy the highlights and receive a bunch of text files, but these are unordered.

The new interface makes the app unusable. The menu appears only when I tap the page. But what if the page is a picture? I use a lot of piano scores from the books store and most of the scores are as pictures on the pages. Tapping on the picture opens up the picture in full screen, but doesn’t bring up the menu button. And when the picture covers the whole page (minus the margins, which take me to next or previous page) one can’t get to the menu at all. So would you please stop minimizing everything and use some common sense when designing usability?

It’s exactly like all the other readers, extremely barebones. You can read text on it but that’s it. Every aspect of it is designed first and foremost to be cheaper than a physical book. No design or typography, just a couple of nondescript fonts, margins and leadings to choose from. If you make the reader do the design for you, at least open the app to all system fonts. Apple’s reader has slightly more options for dark themes than Amazon’s if that’s important. 

Still waiting for an e-reader that would take reading seriously and not just spit out the minimum effort possible.

I have already Onedrive, but in this I cant add books from there. And also it’s hard to find ebook reader for IOS where I can just add folder from my phone to reader.

Since updating ios15 the books app crashes when I set bookmark. The bookmark gets set to different page.

Edit 22: one day all my books, with all progress and bookmarks are gone from the app and icloud. Just the ones from apple book store remained.

Edit 23: App barely supports users own books from files anymore. Books are not stored to device, but are fetched on demand from cloud every time app is opened. Progress is also not saved anymore, but it has been unreliable for year anyway.
