Audm

I absolutely love the Audm app. Listening to world news and politics is now entertaining, well written and informative. I don’t have time to sit and read all the articles I would love to spend my time on. With Audm I can listen and get other tasks done at the same time. The readers speak clearly and they hold my attention. I really appreciate and am so grateful to have Audm to help me keep updated on all the important issues in the world 🌎 ❤️✌️!

Like having subscriptions to all the best publications without the paper bulk, staying current without the cost. Listening while working without the time commitment of reading. Thank you, Audm.

Loved this app until the new iOS and AirPods came out. This app is not compatible with AirPods, constantly stopping and starting and glitching/skipping makes listening unpleasant. I asked them several times to fix the problem, they said they are aware of the problem and then told me not to use AirPods. Silly. An iOS app should be compatible with all Bluetooth, especially iOS ones.

The app often doesn’t work in airplane mode. Removing items from the queue deletes others. I get logged out frequently. All these bugs have been around for well over a year.

I love the content but the app is prone to freezing and crashing when used with CarPlay. It also has trouble keeping your place in a story when it’s closed and reopened. If you close it at the end of an article it will often remain in the queue and play again from the top. Seems like The NY Times has the money to make it run better, but what do I know.

I just canceled my free trial of Audm. While I loved the audio content - as a new user, I was excited to dig into the archives and listen to some articles I’ve been meaning to get to. The search is the app was so limited and so preferential to new articles, I couldn’t find any of the 5 articles I had in mind. Until they add filtering and/or sorting to the search, I’m not going to be able to use the app in a way that’d be worth paying for. The core reason I’d use Audm over podcasts is for digging in deeper and listening to long form writing. The recency bias off the app really seems to miss the point.

I cannot overstate how much I love this app as a concept. I’ve ‘read’ so many great articles. The only reason it’s one star less than perfect is the app itself! It crashes, restarts, lags so much. A few interface updates could make it so much more attractive.

No iPad version? Seriously? Scaling the iPhone version into iPad isn’t that hard, right?
