Total waste of money and time

Users: Don’t waste your money on this app—buy a different receiver with a better calibration system. App developers: Handle problems during calibration better, including by saving work along the way. The app has failed with a “communication error” every time have I have attempted to calibrate my system, even on a rock-solid home network. The errors randomly occur during the calibration process, and when they happen all of the time spent until that point on calibration (many minutes) is wasted because the app doesn’t save the data collected along the way. Super frustrating and dumb. No amount of calibration can be worth this amount of wasted time.

I just bought the app, it showed $19.99 and it charged me $41.52! Why?

Audyssey MultiEQ needs to be updated

This app is easy to use and offers improvements over the default auto-calibration of the AVRs. However, it is basically the same app since its introduction in 2019 or so, with minor updates to make it compatible with newer models (and bug fixes). It seems that since then efforts have been focused solely into PC based Audyssey MultiEq-X Pro, which requires a much pricier non-transferable license per AVR, per userID, and the use of a PC connected to the AVR. So, it’s a lot more powerful than this app, but not nearly as convenient. In my case, I have 3 Denon AVRs at home. Paying for a non transferable license per AVR, per UserID is not an option. But paying let’s say $40 for an improved and expanded X-Pro version of this iOS app would be OK. Please bring some of those advanced features to this app. Wish List… Bring some of REW features to this app. So, keep the current basic full auto setup as the default option, and include the ability of running individual sweeps per speaker (or groups of speakers) and show the results immediately after each sweep, so that enthusiasts may make adjustments to speakers positions or MLP based on those sweeps, and once satisfied with the preliminary results, then run the full auto-setup process. REW is too complicated and cumbersome. This app could be the ideal tool for enthusiasts that want more control over the speaker placement and calibration process, but without the complexity of PC based tools like REW or the high cost (and comparatively higher complexity) of MultiEQ-X Pro. Thanks

Perfect after 3rd party optimization!

Audyssey sounds awful. The app is pretty bad. However, it allows you to export the calibration file and run a 3rd party optimization script called audyssey one evo. It gives Dirac like results and it makes the app finally worth it!

Please fix the subwoofer levels

This app works great minus the current subwoofer bug. I consistently get -12db and have troubleshooted everything I could imagine. I used a different sub, I adjusted the gain multiple times, i flipped the phase. Same results. Every. Single. Time. Please fix this bug with the next update.

Great App; Avoid Common Knowledge and Listen

There is a lot of information out there about this app you must avoid. For example, AVS and Audioholics forums tell you to turn off the mid range sound correction. This attempt is fool stricken as it is this simple compensation that helps you feel surrounded by sound, engulfed in it, this compensation is Spatial Audio and is Dolby Atmos, DTS, and Auro 3D. There is a difference between all and this app allows you to experience it all. Spatial Audio simply refers to following the speaker or object. If someone or something is making noise on the right of the screen you will hear sound coming from the right of the screen. Now let’s take a deeper dive. Dolby Atmos is meant to be experienced as round sound waves or whats refered to as a sine wave. DTS has a trianglular sound wave and Auro 3D is in between with a sawtooth sound wave. You will not be able to hear or feel the difference with midrange compensation turned off. Turning off the midrange compensation does give you the ability to listen to your speakers in a Pure and raw form. After experiencing High End Klipsch, Polk, Kef, and monolith I have found that I enjoy the performance of Elac Debut 2.0 speakers. And once I found the speakers I like the most, I then turned midrange compensation back on and enjoyed being surrounded by beautiful soundwaves. Please note, the sound comes from a superior Denon AV Receiver with a monolith and Emotiva amp with sound only rated between 90-150 watts. As you have noticed, to buy amplifiers 200 watts and above you must invest thousands, which I did not do. I simply picked the right speakers, like Elac that are fully powered at 140 watts and can perform extremely well with budget amps, like the M7100x that pushes only 90 watts. This app gives you a library of quantitative data to choose from and is simply a must if you have invested in an av receiver and so on. I thank the creators of this app and urge users to not follow the advice on AV forums but rather the acoustics in your own house and system. Filtering sound to “remove the curtains” can also be in vain. When you filter the sound you are losing the character of the sound waves and focusing on pure audio from your speakers which results in less spatial audio. Thank you

An necessity to control and edit your AVR.

I’m still very new to the use of Audyssey and owning this quality of Home Theater System my 1st system was a Bose lifestyle 16 and while I loved it then it was just plug and play not compatible with todays technology. So my recent upgrade to Denon and Klipsch 7.2.4 and getting the best possible sound has involved some learning. I must say I’m kinda enjoying the process now that I’m starting to understand it more. This app is a necessity if you want to use Audyssey that comes on your AVR. But this I know for sure since this app is owned and developed by Denon and Marantz. Not Audyssey itself they apparently only License it. But own this they certainly should offer it free to everyone who bought they’re products. I know it’s only $20 bucks but if it wasn’t necessary they wouldn’t have felt the need to buy the license and develop the app in fact Audyssey should be paying them back for improving they’re product’s so well that’s just my thought. Until they make it free though it’s a must so cough up the $20 bucks you’ll be glad you did.

YOU HAD ONE JOB

Thought it would be worth $20 to be able to disable the midrange compensation. After hard-wiring the AVR it runs through the calibration fine, but fails with a communication error trying to actually save it to the receiver. Tried power cycling it like the error suggested, same issue. Glad this wasn’t the $200 app.
