BBC World Service

I live and breathe BBC. I like the programme coverage and the cerebral engagement they provide. There is so much I learn each day as I listen to the BBC programmes. This is important for me because I am busy with so much to do that reading time is limited to before bed only. So I treasure all the information and knowledge I gather as I listen to BBC. Much of this happens while I am driving, and I do a lot of driving daily. I feel it’s time well spent daily as the programmes keep me focused while doing something so mundane. My favourite programmes are Hard Talk, Outlook, Witness history, The Arts Hour. I used to listen to From Our Own Correspondent but somehow have not heard it on air for a long while. I wonder if it’s been scrapped. That would be a pity because it was a first hand account of events etc. The World Book Club is another. It’s been a gd guide to decide what to read. At times, given that I can’t read all the good stuff that’s out there, listening to the writers gives me an insight into new authors and books. My book purchases are generally guided by WBC discussions- I have a pile of books on my table waiting to be read! I just love the quality of the programmes and the presenters. Steven Saccha, Nikki Bedi, Jo Fidgen, Emily Webb are my favourites. The depth of analysis and information is simply amazing. And of course their incisive analysis and compassionate engagement (Jo and Emily) are commendable. As a human being and as an educator, BBC is a must to live an engaged life. I insist that my students listen to these programmes to learn, understand and be enlightened people, living engaged lives. So thank you BBC

Informative, reliable and mostly objective.

I first listened to the Beeb in the Fifties on an ancient Telefunken radio. From those broadcasts, I was hooked. The station’s in-depth news coverage and its breadth of programmes on various topics always fascinate me. From those early vacuum-tube receivers to present day online, mobile and radio, I am amazed how simple it is now to listen to the BBC, the world’s radio station. My sincere thanks to the BBC.

Looks like video version is forced on to user. I can’t watch video (with Audio) at my work setting or outside settings where silence is preferred. In new version, where’s the Text Version (which we could read) as earlier

If the goal of this new “vintage” app was to take the BBC back to the early 2000’s, they nailed it. They had the virtue and the “talent” to roll back every enhancement made over the last 15 years and end up with a mediocre app that can now be filled up with an increasingly obvious level of anti-China, anti-Russia, warmonger colonialist propaganda. Great job BBC! 🎯

Eclectic,, balanced, informative, world-widely comprehensive & objective !

The new changes of the BNC News app continues to annoy users like me. In addition to lacking My Topics section, the articles with video automatically play video with Ad as soon as I click open the articles,before even I read the description about the video to decide whether to listen/watch the video with NO pallPAUSE BUTTON available. Therefore I end up hurriedly closing the article before I even know what it is about. EXTREMELY ANNOYING and you are losing an opportunity to have someone like me to decide to endure the Ad and watch the video. Poor choice of changes. I am sure someone thought it would be an automated way to have captive audience. In reality you are losing potential audience due to this annoying feature. Dumb.
