## Blast Baseball Description
Train smarter and get better with the bat sensor technology used by nearly all the MLB teams. Simply attach the Blast Baseball Swing Analyzer or Personal Swing Trainer*** to any standard bat and your iPad or iPhone will do the rest. Record video of your swings in the Blast Baseball app* and the patented Smart Video Capture ™ technology will automatically identify your swings, clip your video, and overlay your swing metrics, synchronized at impact. (Bat Speed, Time to Contact, Attack Angle, etc.) With the 3D Swing Tracer, you can replay and analyze your swing path instantly. Live mode provides real-time feedback, allowing you to visualize your swing, make adjustments, and see the results. Compare your swing videos side-by-side or send them to a coach for further analysis.

Players and coaches with a membership or free trial can utilize the app’s advanced functionality to automatically assess every swing for swing quality, providing insights in three areas that all great hitters possess: plane, connection, and rotation. Insights make it simple for coaches to evaluate players for recruitment and player development, with recommendations and drills for improvement. Coaches can also streamline coaching feedback through Mobile Video Analysis with voice-over recording and video markup tools.

The Blast Baseball Swing Analyzer and Personal Swing Trainer*** are highly accurate, advanced 3D motion capture systems that record your swings. They use Bluetooth® Smart technology to connect to your iPhone or iPad. There’s no need to alter your natural swing. The Swing Analyzer / Personal Swing Trainer know when to dynamically power-up the patented motion detection algorithms to capture your metrics in real-time. They even store data on the Swing Analyzer / Personal Swing Trainer when your mobile device is out of range and download your actions to the Blast app as soon as you reconnect.

With the Blast Baseball app* coaches, parents, and players of all ages can gain the insights they need to improve their swing and gain the competitive edge.

I have coached baseball for 8 years. I also love working with data…. “What’s measured is managed and what’s managed is improved.”Blast is a great device/app to track swing power (bat speed, rotational acceleration), contact (attack angle, on plane efficiency) and consistency (early connection, connection at impact) and see improvement over time. In addition to the data, there is a library of videos/drills that explain each of these 3 components of the swing to help the player visualize his swing with drills to improve the areas that need work. The app does require an annual subscription. But, the annual subscription costs less than one private lesson and if you work with a coach who embraces this technology, your player will be ahead of the game. While the sensor tracks bat speed, it does not track 2 important aspects of the swing: exit velocity (ball speed off of the bat at impact) and swing decision timing (time from deciding to swing to contact). Paired with HitTrax or simply a Pocket Radar to periodically track exit velocity and you will have almost everything you need to improve and drive consistency in the swing. For swing decision timing, Win Reality has some great VR drills.

I’ve had the sensor for years and the last update removed all of the features after 10 swings per day. Their website still says these features are free. They lie!  Diamond Kenetics here I come. I will not pay the monthly ransom for what was free when I bought the sensor and has been free for years.

Paid $100 for the bath attachment and all I really used it for was bat speed and basic metrics for my kids. A random app update removed free metrics. Now you’ve gotta pay a yearly subscription to view basic metrics. I’m done and getting rid of the motion sensor.

We bought this device before their was a pay wall past 11 swings. Extremely disappointing that they are now charging $50/year to track more swings. There should at least be a grandfather clause for those that paid full price for the sensor. Paid the $50, but will definitely not recommend it to anyone else.

DO NOT BUY THIS DEVICE After owning the blast motion for several years and using it with my son, the latest update makes this device completely useless without paying $50 per year.  It is now limited to 11 swings per day.   Prior to this update we would do 20 swings once in a while, and now we can’t do that.   I really feel like I should get a refund for the $150 sensor, since they changed the terms of the app to the point that it doesn’t make sense to even own it.   I really don’t see how it is even legal for them to do this.  The only reason I bought it in the first place was because they put Zepp out of business and my sensor finally died.  You would be better off with WinReality’s ai app instead.

Blast Motion was recently acquired by WIN Reality. Now as of August 2025, all formerly free metrics along with historical data are paywalled and behind a subscription with no warning from Blast Motion. Just shady business practices. Aside from that the sensor itself isn’t reliable. I’d look elsewhere.

After the forced app update/upgrade, the included swing analyzer data is longer included with your blast sensor purchase. Once you hit 12 swings, a pop up states, “you need to upgrade to premium for $5.95 a month to see your swing data. This is a separate charge from blast vision. I guess WIN Reality over paid to acquire Blast Motion, now they are passing the cost over to the customers!!!!
The ball flight info will fail to provide info 50-60% of the time and when it does provide ball flight data. The distances are either 20%+ under or over Hit Trax data.

I’ll be happy to update my review if I’m wrong but this new update gives you 10 free swings, albeit with more metrics available, and then you have to pay to view anything beyond that. Up until this point, the app was free to use for all basic members with 5-6 basic metrics available. I used it to track bat and hand speed over time, and didnt necessarily care about any other metrics. Now, I can’t even track that without paying a subscription fee. This feels wrong for those of us that already own the blast baseball sensor. The sensor disconnects/reconnects every time I am using it, and now its basically a paperweight after 10 swings because I don’t plan to buy a subscription for something that was initially free. Figure it out Blast.
