## Blue Iris Description
This app is a CLIENT for the Blue Iris Windows PC software.  In order to make use of this app, you must have Blue Iris version 5 installed and running on a Windows PC or VM.  Instructions for connecting this app to the PC software are found in the Remote Access chapter of its Help file.

This app provides a single point of contact to your home camera network.  There is no need to insecurely open individual cameras to the Internet.  This app connects using a secure and session-based protocol--no passwords are transmitted in plain text.

Remote access does require router configuration or NGROK, which you can test without the app by using Safari.  You should see your Blue Iris login page.

Key features include:

- Manage multiple Blue Iris installations
- Geofencing: set status, send alerts, and more in response to device location *
- Control the shield icon, schedule and profile selection
- Receive iOS push notification alerts when a Blue Iris camera is triggered or there is a critical status message
- Fast H.264 streaming

- Navigate cameras by tapping and swiping
- Review recordings as stored on the Blue Iris PC, up to 64x speed

- Selectively delete recordings from the Blue Iris PC
- Broadcast live video from the iOS device directly into a Blue Iris PC camera window
- Remote control DIO output signals on compatible devices

Awful UI , although main windows app isn’t much better. It’s like going back to 2005.
Also no timelime option, use the web interface and it has a nice timeline slider that you don’t have to keep selecting recorded videos to view.
Apart from that it works ok so 2 stars for that.

Perhaps those complaining about crashes don’t run the blueiris software on a fast enough machine. Personally I was fed up with how underpowered synology’s NAS was for their synology surveillance station app, it just could not cope with more than 3 cameras. So gone and got a dell poweredge server, with XEON, 16gb ram and separate solid state discs for the op system, new, alerts and a large 16TB fast disc for stored footage. Followed some good online resource to configure the 12 or so cameras and the speed overall is phenomenal. Logging in and accessing any recordings from the internet is instant and had never seen the mobile app crash. Great software, plan to stick with it.

This app has been pretty much flawless for me. I had a problem with a recent app update which the Developer worked with me to resolve. Turned out that it was a problem to be more likely my end but we found a resolution. BlueIris is a very powerful application, can’t fault it.

I have been using BI for nearly a year an on 5.5.1.4 now. I paid for this app on my iPad Air 2 running IPadOS 14.8, and today my iPad updated the app to version 2.01.00. All was working ok until this update installed, I have found a couple of defects with this version on my iPad:- First - When viewing live BI via the app, every 45 seconds the screen darkens then goes off for a second and then returns to normal viewing…so annoying when I am watching something about to happen. Second - when going from this app to any other app and then back to this app, it displays main screen with the 3 pie charts, and won’t let me go to the cameras again, I have to close this app and restart to view anything Please resolve these defects, I was getting used to app before this update, thanks

It's a good app, but the redesigned UI feels like a big step backwards, particularly the popup clip player.

Viewing a clip is now far smaller than the previous version, where it was shown inline instead of an unnecessary popup.
Despite my cams all having PTZ controls disabled, the popup shows a very deep PTZ panel on the popup, reducing the clip area even further.

Please bring back the inline clip player, the popup is really awful

The updated UI is poorly designed for the iPad, used to be great before.  For example a pop up window for playback of clips, that should just be full screen with a close option at top right (where there is currently a delete clip button... which again is poorly placed)... this needs a easy, quick UI for people just opening app and checking their CCTV in a the easiest and fastest way possible.

48 hours later I have not had a response from support I paid for!!  that’s is not good enough if I was to get a break-in  when software is not functioning then it could be costly. NOT RECOMENDED!!

### *---- "Utterly bewildering app"
BlueIris seems to be a reasonable desktop app. I bought the licence because I marginally prefer it to the HikVision NVR I own, but that’s not saying much. To be honest I’m a bit miffed that I can’t actually fire up BI on my laptop and control the server like I can with any other NVR, at least not without paying another licence fee. This makes it very difficult to recommend to customers who have many users in the organisation who want the full desktop app installed on each of their PCs. Apart from this, it’s okay. Functionality is better by a long way, usability so-so. Presentation is pretty much on a par if not slightly worse than HikVision’s offering.

This mobile app, however, is utterly horrendous. Try it for yourself. Download it. From the moment you enter your key and you get an error message, to the moment you look at the settings page and wonder what on earth any of those menu options do. Settings page starts with “Global Schedule” (on or off). What?! Next setting is “Web Archival”. What?! Stop it with the stupid menu options that mean very little to most normal humans! I especially like the menu option called “Hide Cameras”. Yeh, that’s something users are really going to want to do. On a camera viewing app. *rolls eyes*

And then there’s the “all cameras” view. Seriously, I have only 5 cameras yet somehow they managed to make it so all images take up less than a fifth of the page put together. Loads of wasted screen space.

Once you get logged in you are presented - not with your cameras - oh no, that would be far too sensible! You are presented with some weird traffic light which shows a red signal, you randomly hit the light and it turns orange. Apparently if you press and hold, it goes green! I have no idea why or what this is. No help, no explanation. No consistency with the desktop app. Utter mystery. Most of all, how do I see the cameras?

Well here is how. Amongst the NINETEEN things I can press on that initial screen is a button with a circle with a dot in the middle. Apparently that’s how you view your CCTV cameras! It’s so obvious, why did I find it so difficult! I have not seen that icon ever before.

Also on that initial page is some box with text in it. It says E: +3.30T, C: +40.9G.

Yeh because everyone wants to know that. Imagine rolling this out to users in your organisation. They wouldn’t have a CLUE!

Moving on to the camera display. Looking at “all cameras”, the TOOLBAR takes up more space than all of my 5 cameras put together.

I’ve been using this App for well over a year now and it did used to be quite stable, in more recent months it regularly crashes out when switching from live view to playback. Needs an update, looks to have been a year since the last one. App works well otherwise but this is quite a fundamental problem.

I have had a few cameras over the years, and have used their proprietary software. I have to say none of them have come close to how this app operates. For instance the video feed is almost instant, hardly any lag, and a lot more features to offer. This is the best software for cctv I have ever used on an iPhone. It’s a bit outdated but cannot beat the performance. Love it 

P.s for this app to work you have to buy the blue iris software for your PC.

Thought I’d write a honest review since I was mulling over for ages if to spend £9.99 on this app and was concerned on the lack of reviews and updates and no one has mentioned it works for bi5. I’ve been using BI 5 and it’s web interface and it’s pretty good from a iPhone so why do I need to spend another £10

The bad:  the interface looks dated and it hasn’t been updated in ages. Plus there could be many more features added to bring it in line with the bi5 release 

The good: quite simply it’s awesome, it’s very fast and easy to see my pc status, my recordings and live view etc. I haven’t found any other iPhone app as slick for blue iris so I’m really glad I got it

Summary: if you buy blue iris for your server, don’t hesitate on buying this aswell, you won’t regret it

Now .....if the developer can Please update the interface so it looks like bi5 server it would be great
