Bound - Audiobook Player

Well, it’s not good. The interface is lovely and player features are great for a free app. But trying to get audiobooks onto this is torture. It finds the dedicated Dropbox folder (one of the recommended methods of uploaded to the app) then uploads only ever second chapter (for some mysterious reason) then stalls and there’s nothing I can do to get it going again. The Web Upload page is worse: when I go to the associated url on my network, it lets me upload the 8th chapter of a book (not even the first) then stops and requires a restart of my computer browser after which a new url variant appears, forcing me to upload even chapter 8 again, which works for a bit then stops again. Just a waste of time, I’m sorry to say. It would be so much easier to have direct, wired upload (drag and drop) or even wireless, from a (physically connected) computer, but bizarrely that’s not an option. I wanted to love this but it’s just too fiddly and undependable (maybe it needs some updating and general TLC). How a developer can do all that without charging a few coins is a question that affects lots of app with great ideas behind them. Charge something, you deserve it, then fix the issues with it. That’s the only way to go.

A good app that does its job really well. It could be elevated and competitive to BookPlayer (free and open source) which has the capability of working with/on an Apple Watch. That’s a almost big deal for me. It is a big deal for me in fact. I’ve now paid for an app that has less functionality than a rival free app [above]. The necessaries done well but let’s tip it over the line now please.

This app really is amazing. It has tons of features and has never crashed once even after 100s of hours of use. I keep discovering new and cool things like the ability to add custom Siri commands to play an audiobook or I can easily transfer audiobooks ftp style wirelessly from my pc to my phone and the app sorts all the files out and orders everything correctly. Absolutely worth the money.

I previously complained about the sound quality for 3x speed. I’m happy to report that this has improved greatly. Brilliant app now!

A truly great audiobook app. Use it every day. Lovely details (like changing audiobook covers etc). I hope FTP is added as an option for connecting to cloud services.

I like this app very much and using it every day, but still needs some work to be done: 1. Ability to see long titles, it’s very annoying when you can’t see the entire title inside the album. Will rate 5 stars for this, please fix it. 2. I see things in the “settings menu” I don’t understand, is this for us to costumes the look of the app? If yes perhaps you can implement a “how to” tab, a link to a video on youtube would be even better. 3. The ability to switch on/off (inside settings) automatic play when you click on the album. I know is great for audiobooks, but if you’re listen to meditations, hypnosis, binaural music, audio courses etc you want to go for a specific one inside the pack/ album. Thanks!

It may be a niche app, but it does what it does incredibly well. I rarely bother to write a review but this app hat prompted me to do so. It is well thought out, solves a problem well, is elegantly designed and functions flawlessly. 10 stars!

Great for listening to audiobooks that I didn't download from Apple or Amazon. There's a wifi transfer feature to transfer audiobooks onto it from the computer. Very convenient! I love this app and wish there was an equivalent app for loading songs onto my iPhone !

Perfect for playing your audiobooks from your files app

This is a pretty good, no frills audiobook player. It has a super clean UI and works really well. I consider it my backup book player at this point. The problem is that there’s already a free book player on the market that has the major features that I never really knew I needed until I tried out this app. 1. The sleep timer works as intended, but one feature that would be nice is to have a “reset sleep timer when play button is hit” feature. If you’re listening to a book and haven’t fallen asleep by the time the book stops, then you’re forced to go back into the app and reset the timer. 2. A control panel widget to resume playing the last boom where you left off. Having a 1 click solution to playing your audiobooks is SUPER handy and something I feel gets overlooked.
