I’ve authored and co-authored several CaringBridge sites over the years. I have appreciated the relative ease of creating, updating and otherwise modifying sites - until earlier this year. Don’t know what happened to blow CaringBridge out of the water a few months ago, and the complete lack of communication about it was baffling. I’d still appreciate something more than “we’re working hard.” While there’s been progress in recent months, the site still lacks much of its previous usability. As an author, I find it clumsy, difficult, and frustrating to use. More importantly, large numbers of my sister’s supporters and readers have stopped using it, and that is a very great loss. Are there plans to restore more functionality? Will CaringBridge communicate anything of substance that might help its users? Is anyone paying attention to feedback from the community of users? I hope so. The app has a serious flaw though. None of us seem to be able to access the updates through the app without rebooting our phones each and every time. I removed the app I paid for the convenience of and access through the link in my email to get updates. The changes that have been made in the last several months have been incredibly disappointing, however. Many of my pictures have not been restored where I can see them. It’s also not possible to see the captions that I put below them to help describe each of the pictures. It also doesn’t look like I am able to print a copy of our daughter’s cancer journey. This is incredibly hard to not be able to have this as a keepsake for her. One suggestion that I have with the visitors page is to be able to see when they most recently signed in (as before) and also to have a separate option of putting those visitors in alphabetical order. And the “well wishes” that people have given… Where did they go? Going back and seeing people’s words of encouragement continue to give us strength for the journey. Lastly, I have noticed our friends have given hearts to either pictures or updates, but I am not able to see who has responded in that way.
