Tried to charge at Belton House near Grantham. So forced to download the app and register to use the charger. Which then with even half an hour on the helpline, still didn’t work. Just allow contactless payments rather than the painful customer journey you designed please ChargePoint.

Why do you take extra £10 from my account? I won’t use this app anymore because it makes the price more expensive and always keeps credit which it doesn’t make any sense.

Best avoided. Random ‘auto-renewal’ function debits random amounts without permission, nowhere in the app to turn it off, no clear customer support links, no way to delete credit card details. Does not feel like any other EV charging system I have used. Now left with the headache of trying to get out of this mess.

The app is actually quite good and very informative when charging. Better than most other apps. 
However I really don’t like that you auto too-up my balance always holding onto a minimum of £5. This is very cheeky indeed and although it may seem as a convenience, it’s not morally right. I mainly use PodPoint and they don’t do this. 
What if you never use ChargePoint again, how do you get your funds back?
This feature should be user controlled and not mandatory.

The app itself works fine, but the whole process is a lot more complicated than a tap and pay charging system. The app also automatically tops up your payment when your credit drops below £5. I have paid £30 for £19 of EV charging- something that would have cost me just £19 at a tap and pay system. Unless ChargePoint is your local charging point that you will use regularly, avoid.

Don’t waste your time. A lesson in how to turn the simple task of charging your car (turn up, plug in, tap phone or card, and start charging) into a mind boggling complicated shenanigans (turn up, plug in, be told you need to download an app, then register a card, then pay some money on account, then phone not recognised by charger, then try again, and again, and again). And all for the worlds slowest charge. Strongly recommend you drive down the road to BP Pulse instead and save yourself a load of time and stress. It’s chargers like these that give EV’s a bad name. Complete waste of time.
