## Ciruss Description
CIRUSS aims to help surgery patients by providing them with reliable information about their patient journey and to reduce their stress and anxiety related to surgery. Stress reduction, patient empowerment and self-management are related to a reduction in recovery times and perioperative complications.
Stress and anxiety are part of human existence. All people feel it in a moderate degree, as an adaptive response. When left untreated, anxiety symptoms persist and are associated with significant impairments in functioning, poor quality of life, and a huge economic burden due to its close relationship with several body functions. It is important to understand anxiety as a feeling or an emotional state that help us to face stressful everyday situations. 
However, stress and anxiety in patients who must undergo surgery involve a significant negative emotional state, generating a physiological activation in the preparation of the organism to cope with the perceived danger, which can impair the correct development of the surgical procedure. As a result, stress and anxiety causes an increase in postoperative pain, greater need for painkillers and prolongation in hospital stay days.
CIRUSS contains all elements required for effective patient self-management, managing, and sharing of information relevant for caregivers and health care professionals, and support for personalized, outcome-oriented decision support.
