I followed all the garbled conditions of the offer, paid thru the Sunoco app using the Citi card. I got 3% back; no extra $5. Confirmation email I received showed a credit amount that was 3% of the purchase ($1.46), nothing more. After multiple exchanges with Citi, first by email with screenshots, then by phone, they finally added some frequent flier miles to my account because the CSR claimed an inability to put a credit on the account. I will not trust Citi’s Merchant Offers anymore as a result of this. I could’ve gotten 5% cash back by using the card I usually use for gas.
