『CJKI 日本人名辞典』は、日中韓辭典研究所 (CJKI) の日本人名及びその異表記の包括的なデータベースを元に編纂された。

日本の人名は世界の七不思議に続く「第八の不思議」と言われることがある。確かに、日本人自身でも漢字で書かれた名前の読みが分からなかったり、ローマ字で書かれた名前を見ても漢字が分からなかったりということは珍しくない。極端な場合、一つの名前に36通りもの読みがあったり、100通りを超えるローマ字表記があったり、という具合である。

Q: 「水晶」と「海」、この二つの名前はどう読むでしょうか?
A: 「きらら」と「まりん」。

Q: 「はしづめ」という苗字は漢字でどう書くでしょうか?
A: 「橋詰」「橋爪」「橋都」「橋誥」等。

Q: 「あきこ」の書き方は何通りあると思いますか?
A: なんと少なくとも168通り! 「明子」「晶子」「昭子」「彰子」「亜喜子」「亜希子」「安貴子」等々。

『CJKI 日本人名辞典』は、日中韓辭典研究所 (CJKI) の日本人名及びその異表記の包括的なデータベースを元に編纂された。数百万という比類なき規模を誇る人名情報の宝庫から、日本で最も多い姓名50万と平仮名による読み、よく見られるローマ字異表記を80万通り以上収録している。

●約50万の主要な人名と、頻度の統計データを基に選択した80万通り以上のローマ字異表記を表示。
●ローマ字索引は、比較的珍しい表記法も含め様々な状況を考慮し、収録総数は150万項目を超える。
●読みから漢字表記を引くこともできるので、日本語話者以外のユーザーには特に便利。
●読みが分からない名前でも、部首索引から簡単に検索できる。
●多様なローマ字異表記のどれからでも漢字表記の検索が可能。例えば「じゅんいちろう」には、「純一郎」「潤一朗」「凖市郎」等87通りの漢字表記と、Jun'ichirō、Jun'ichiro、Junichiroo、Junichirou、 Junichiroh、Zyun'itirô等、168通りのローマ字異表記が収録されている。
●一つのアプリケーションに英和・和英の双方向辞典が集約され、英・日二言語インターフェースは日本人にも外国人にも使い易い。
●インターネット接続不要。
