Cleartune

Have to be honest, I’ve spent hours each evening for a week trying to get this to work, without any success. It seems to remain perpetually locked - that is, the red padlock icon will go white briefly, but then disappears. Consequently, the spinning dial doesn’t move. Pretty pointless when I’m trying to see if I’m sharp or flat or, indeed, where I’m sounding on the scale at all. Maybe I need to pay more to unlock this? Maybe I’m not using it properly? Not impossible; I’m not young. But I’ve googled YouTube for help, but still nothing works. I did email the Q&A site, but no reply. Such is life.

The Cleartune App was great until the most recent update (as of 30 June 2020). After latest update it’s gotten slow to a point that I cannot tune my violin anymore. I’m running latest iOS on iPhone 6s Plus. I have tried contacting the support via email form on their website, but when hitting ‘Send’ button, I’ve received internal server error. Not being able to contact the developer doesn’t add extra confidence. Hope the issue can be resolved, then I would be happy to give 5 stars.

Over the past few decades of tuning guitars: during gigs, all my students's guitars, in my studio for myself and clients, I've used a range of tuners. Clear Tune made a noticeable difference in my recordings as well - the green OK "good enough" signal in many tuning apps ignores the 5% either side of zero, so when I got Clear Tune, the extra percentage meter made a big difference. I've been holding off from updating my phone, knowing Clear Tune and another fave app will stop working with the latest iOS updates. I wish the app makers would update it. Interestingly, since getting an iPhone 6S Plus, the performance of Clear Tune has reduced slightly. Could just be part of the manufacturer's deliberate software throttling of older phones.

Makes tuning super easy - even for a beginner! But seems to have a heap of features that would be valuable for more advanced users, but these don't get in the way.

I have hunted for a good tuner app and tried all the free ones but really there is nothing that stands up to Cleartune. It is the definition of perfect, works immaculately and looks great too! If this is the one paid you purchase, get this one. Worth it x 9000!!!!!!! So happy

This app should be removed from the store because it’s worthless.

Used to work but now busted

Cleartune is mediocre at best but is likely the fault of the microphone, not the software. The bandwidth is limited and cannot tune the scope of a piano or harpsichord. Still, for a phone app it is not bad and better than lugging a tuner around.

Crashes constantly on iOS 18

The application is completely unstable, capricious and inaccurate. It has not received an update for 4 years. Their android version was perfect, but they discontinued it and you can't find it anymore. It's a scandal that they are still selling it in the Apple Store!
