It has it all! Endless fun and replayability

Kudos to these folks for creating such a fun, unique game, for letting us play free online through the pandemic and beyond, and now for this fabulous app. Very rich experience considering it’s just one simple game. Many variations, some of which I love and others I prefer to skip. Opportunities to be more or less competitive.

Can you play code names duet on here? My bf and I each bought this app to play that specifically

I just found codenames from a group of international friends in November of 2023, I instantly fell in love with the concept. It’s fun, engaging and interesting to learn how people think. The app is a bit different than the online game, but I love it. I love that you can play games any time you have a free moment. You don’t have to wait to gather 2-4 people like you do on the online web version. The more you play, the more you can play, if that makes sense. The more “tasks” you complete, the more you can play. At any given time I have 15-25 games running. Plus, all the variations of the games I love and the special boards too(history, sci-fi, travel, sports, etc). So even if sometimes it takes a few days to finish a game, there is always something to play on the app. Even the daily cases are fun, and a quick fix if you want to play a couple quick ones. I like “jury” too- which is the ability to vote on words that are suitable for clues. The community votes, so words and names that might not be in standard dictionary, but are culture icons, can be added and used. One I had submitted and accepted was Snuffleupagus, Big Bird’s buddy from the iconic Sesame street. So the game is always being improved by players. $5 is not a lot for all of the work, dedication, animation and thought that went into this app. I’m really impressed, and will be a game I continue to play for a long time. The app is well designed and works really well. I love that I can just buy it and not worry about ads and micro transactions. As a fan of codenames the board game, I think it translates to the app well. I love the special game modes. Now I’m just trying to get more of my friends to buy it. Only downside is the clues you give have to be limited - no two word clues period, even something like “San Francisco” is not allowed when “Sacramento” is legal. I understand having to have clear cut rules though. Having played the app obsessively since it became public, the base card set has become a bit stale. Wishing there were some more cards in the basic game since you can’t freely play the special game modes.

This is the best conversion of a board game to app I've ever played. I like that the more you level up the more you get to do.

Addicted, send more words. Best online game ever.

Not only is the game of Codenames a terrific and addicting game but the app and game modes are engaging and keep me wanting to play more. The way you level, get achievements, and unlock features like being a member of the word jury are seamless and well executed! I can not recommend this game enough!! One minor thing is I wish I could paste into the word box, and/or it had spell check lol I can’t wait to see what else comes to this game in the future! PS the Pugs are my favorite!
