Line Sudoku
Line Sudoku is a pack devoted to sudokus involving… LINES! Each puzzle features one or more of the popular “lines constraints” that often feature in variant puzzles on Cracking The Cryptic, including Renban, German Whispers, Palindromes, Region Sum and Ten Lines!
We’re thrilled that Line Sudoku includes puzzles by Phistomefel, Qodec, Clover, zetamath, Jay Dyer, Tallcat, Mr Menace, Peter Veenis, Joseph Nehme, Richard Stolk, Prasanna Seshadri, Tyrgannus and Full Deck & Missing A Few Cards! In addition, Mark and Simon have written hints for the challenging puzzles themselves so these hints are meaningful and, above all, educational.
--------------------
Welcome to the brand new Sudoku app from YouTube’s most popular Sudoku channel, Cracking The Cryptic.
Unlike other Sudoku apps, we feature handcrafted and curated puzzles from the world’s best Sudoku constructors. Each collection features puzzles made by various authors that are now familiar names to those who follow the channel. Authors like Phistomefel, Clover, Sam Cappleman-Lynes, Christoph Seeliger, Richard Stolk, jovi_al, Qodec, Prasanna Seshadri and of course, Simon and Mark!
Downloading Cracking the Cryptic will give you access to our two launch packs. Our first free collection is a variety pack by Prasanna Seshadri featuring 7 puzzles inspired from our previous Sudoku apps; Sandwich, Classic, Chess, Thermo, Miracle, Killer and Arrow Sudoku. Our first paid collection is Domino Sudoku, a new variant not featured in our previous apps with puzzles from our amazing constructors.
We’ll be releasing more free and paid packs in the future so keep an eye on the app for more Sudoku content from Cracking The Cryptic!
--------------------
Domino Sudoku
Domino Sudoku is named after its domino-like appearance with X's, V's, white dots and black dots placed between cells on the grid. Each puzzle features one or more of these domino types with them all having a different effect: an X means digits in the two cells in the domino must sum to 10; a V means they sum to 5; a white dot means the digits are consecutive; and, finally, a black dot means the digits must be in a 1:2 ratio (ie one of the digits must be double the other).
As you can imagine, when you allow the world’s best Sudoku makers to use these rules they are in their element and they’ve made another set of masterpieces for this collection with a huge amount of variety! We’re thrilled that Domino Sudoku includes puzzles by Christoph Seeliger, Sam Cappleman-Lynes, Richard Stolk, Prasanna Seshadri, Phistomefel, Qodec, Clover and jovi_al. In addition, Mark and Simon have written hints for the challenging puzzles themselves so these hints are meaningful and, above all, educational.
As a bonus, Studio Goya has curated 10 generated beginner puzzles so that players of all skill levels can enjoy Domino Sudoku!
In Cracking The Cryptic’s games, players start with zero stars and earn stars by solving puzzles. The more puzzles you solve, the more stars you earn and the more puzzles you get to play. Only the most dedicated (and cleverest) sudoku players will finish all the puzzles. Of course the difficulty is carefully calibrated to ensure lots of puzzles at every level (from easy through to extreme).
So do join us as we continue to try to revolutionize Sudoku app genre.

It’s Fantastic and some quick fixes

This is an awesome Sudoku App. If you enjoy the variety Sudoku on YouTube channels like Cracking The Cryptic you will love this app. I’m not a Sudoku wizard but I’ve slowly gotten better with the puzzles here. GAS 1 and 2 and the Approachable pack are indeed approachable and a great place to start. I find variety sudoku so much more fun than standard sudoku. There is a ton of value here for a tiny investment- well worth it! Here are a few things I would improve: (1) Add the calculator more places. It would be really useful for example on X-Sum sudokus but it’s not there. (2) If the sudoku is a Serial Killer don’t include the Killer rules, that’s just confusing. (3) Refine, improve, maybe combine the menu system? Could we just access all the packs we own in one place? Also if there is a tutorial for best practices on how to use notation please direct me there. Thanks for everything! It’s a great app!!

Great puzzles

Great puzzles, but got a bit tripped up by the way the in-app purchases had to be restored after updating the app.

Good but hints need lots of work

Best Sudoku app out there but unless you are a religious viewer of the CTC channel a lot of the hints are completely useless. “Are there any doubles or triples to help with eliminations?” How is this supposed to help? I read this, look at the puzzle and can’t see anything so the app makes me feel stupid. The hints should help TEACH how to solve the puzzles so you get better over time. That being said, those I can wrap my head around are phenomenal.

Best sudoku app there is

This app is my favorite sudoku app _by far_. One suggestion - I’d love a way to turn on push notifications to be notified when there’s new puzzles. Currently I just have to check the app occasionally to see if something new has been added

Please fix hints

A lot of these puzzles go over my head, which is great because it’s challenging and is helping me understand how to approach these difficult types of sudoku. But the hints almost never explain their logic, and often just tell you where things go while there is not enough information on the board to justify what it is telling you. I get as far as I can before checking a hint, and use the hints to help me understand how to approach, but often just get frustrated by them. Aside from most puzzle packs being locked behind a paywall, overall this is a great app and I am enjoying my time with it.

Excellent app for variant sudokus

It is a companion app for a popular YouTube channel Cracking the Cryptic. If you like the channel and variant sudoku puzzles, this is the app to get. However, to get 5 stars from my side, it needs two things: 1) proper Mac support — it only works as an iPad app on Mac with no keyboard support; 2) in-game purchase options for puzzles from legacy apps made by the same team such as classic sudokus. I would like to keep only this app to do all puzzles instead of downloading each app for each variant.

Love it, but it could be better

I’ve loved this app and these puzzles for years. I think the interface is pretty awkward and could be improved, but the puzzles are excellent. I keep coming back to this app because the puzzles are so satisfying.

Notepad please

Hey Love the puzzle design Please Please Please implement a notepad feature my brain is too small to keep all the observations in my head. Also enabling the killer calculator on region sum lines puzzles would be great

No support for in-app purchase glitch

Frustrated by Glitch on

I’ve been a Cracking the Cryptic fan since I discovered it during the pandemic. I have purchased all apps and found them all to be well worth the price. I value being able to continually re-solve puzzles to improve my time, so the timing feature, including the record kept of the best time, is a big plus. The hints are great for learning how to improve puzzle solving skills. While the quality of the hints is not consistent, with some over-explaining and some under-explaining, I understand how much time goes into striking the right balance for consistency across puzzles and for users at different levels. I would pay more if the price were increased to make the quality more consistent (perhaps tiered hints for users at different levels). I liked the new approach of the CTC app with separate modules for sale as in-app purchases until I discovered a glitch that no one has helped me solve. I use 2 different Apple IDs to buy apps because I divide my time between Canada and the U.S. and the sale of some apps is restricted by country. My main account is Canadian, but when I need to buy an app restricted to the U.S., I have to log out of the Canadian Apple ID and into the U.S. one. Sometimes I forget to switch back. I inadvertently bought the first 4 CTC modules using the U.S. account. Many months later after solving all puzzles in the first 4 modules except for some puzzles not yet released, I bought the recently released module while logged into the Canadian account. A few days later, I had to log into the U.S. account to download a U.S. banking app. The next time I opened the CTC app after doing that, the free modules and the most recently purchased one showed up with my playing history but the 4 modules I purchased using the U.S. account were set to unpurchased with my playing history gone. I suspected that this was due to switching accounts and discovered that I had purchased different modules while logged into different accounts. However, when I logged out of the Canadian account and into the U.S. account, the modules I had purchased using the U.S. account were still showing up as not purchased and the “restore purchases” function did not work. I have tried every way I can find to report the problem to developers and Apple but have received no solution. I tried requesting a refund of the apps I can no longer access, thinking I would re-purchase them using the Canadian account (though my play history would still be lost), but Apple told me they are not eligible

So much fun!

I recently downloaded the "CTC Approachable Sudoku #1" pack, and it is so much fun! I have been playing along with Simon and Mark on the youtube channel for about a year, and it's genuinely exciting when I can solve these on my own.
