## Dark Reader for Safari Description
Dark Reader is an eye-care Safari extension that enables night mode by creating dark themes for websites on the fly. It inverts bright colors to make web pages high contrast and easier to read. Dark Reader integrates seamlessly with system dark mode.

Adjust brightness and contrast to match your display and ambient lighting. Enable dark mode on every web page or give websites a sepia tone. Select from multiple color theme presets or create your own by customizing background and text colors. Enable or disable Dark Reader for specific websites, automatically sync with system dark mode, or detect already dark websites and leave them unchanged.

Developed by the original creators of Dark Reader. Since 2014, we continuously evolve alongside modern web technologies to deliver fast and reliable dark mode support for people sensitive to bright light.

A single purchase includes access to the macOS version (Safari browser) when using the same iCloud account.

Wasted my money. Extremely disappointing to be hit with the message ‘This extension would be able to read and alter web pages and see your browsing history on these websites. This could include sensitive information, including passwords, phone numbers and credit card details.’ when enabling the extension after reading ‘data not collected’ on the download page. Immediately deleted the extension. Can the dev please confirm whether this collects data or not?

Constantly updated, works for… most websites, but some dark titles and fonts can be lost. Still, until the time every website offers a dark mode (i.e. never) this does a good job. But please add a monochrome toolbar icon so it fits with the rest of Safari and isn’t distracting.

Dark Reader works well for most websites that don't support a native dark mode. It offers a good complementary color palette that is visually appealing. Some websites don't work that well though like Apple developer docs or stackoverflow (yes I'm a developer).

This doesn't work very well on Safari, the main body of the web page goes dark but the top toolbar and tabs do not change colour, staying the defailt pale grey.

Also, whilst it says in the listing that it doesn't collect user data it actually does and you get a warning when installing it that it does so.

I got this as Dark Reader has been super reliable on every other platform. As of the most recent update to iOS it doesn’t work, and there has been no action from the devs so far to rectify the issue. Will update this if it gets fixed, but right now I’m looking for alternatives.

Since updating my iPhone 11 to iOS 17.4 this app no longer works properly. It more often than not fails. I’ve tried everything but can’t get it to work properly. Very disappointing. I paid for this app because I have vision problems. Now I’ll have to look and pay for an alternative.

I use my phone at night so wanted safari to work in dark mode. This app had good reviews and a one off cost which seemed reasonable. When you install the app it gives you instructions on how to configure it. Once done all pages in safari render in dark mode, this includes any link opened via emails or your search bar, etc. Pages render instantly and all pages so far have been easy to read. Very happy with this purchase, it is nice to have an app that works well without any issues.

I enjoy using this app and have had it installed for quite a long time, however, in some instances when browsing using Safari,  the dark mode leads to corruption of the website data meaning that the site does not display properly.

This is particularly irritating with the BBC News website which I view daily.

There is also an issue with viewing my bank website, and the website often crashes (an error code is displayed and the site will not allow log in until Safari is restarted).

Hence only 4 stars...
