I love this app. Super easy to use and the UI is really nice! If I were to change anything it would be “Favorites” to something that represents that I have tried it / visited the restaurant. Having Favorites and Top 20 feels duplicative. It’s been awhile since an update has come so it’s starting glitch, I hope I don’t have to find a new app.
Some features I’d like to see:
- a way to separate cities
- way to separate bars from restaurants
- no limit on characters
- more customizations for notes (being able to return, bold, etc)
- all lists to be in alphabetical order
- to be able to search and use tags on the map view
Love this app!
I have a very long, messy email draft full of restaurants I’ve been wanting to try so having an app that makes things easier to log and track is great.
So far I’m really enjoying dish. I love that you can visit the restaurants website or call them through the app and you can also make comments for yourself to remember a certain dish you ordered.
Here are two immediate thoughts for improvement I have:
- a “been there” tab to log restaurants you’ve already tried. So far we have a favorites, top 20 and places to try, but I would like to have a running log of places I’ve already been to that might not necessarily be a favorite.
- adding things to different lists. When I downloaded the app I went straight to the “places to try” tab to integrate all of the restaurants from my running email draft. Even though I was already in the “places to try” tab, I would search a restaurant and then have to click again that I wanted it to go into “places to try” instead of “favorites” or “top 20.”
I would love if those changes could be considered for ease of use!
It’s only day one, but I’m excited!
So far I’m very excited about this app! It’s simple and the UI is very friendly.
It’s early days of the development of this app, so I look forward to future functionalities, including...
1) I agree with other users: I would like a folder function for different cities.
2) I also want to be able to add an image to the right of the restaurant name as I’m an extremely visual person, and that would help me when I’m using this app to choose my food preference.
3) And last, I’d like to be able to search tags when I’m in the map view—sometimes I may want my pizza tag applied but also to determine which pizza place to eat at by how far I have to travel.
All in all though, this seems to be a very promising app!!
So much potential but..
Super cool UI, but can’t even search “Los Angeles” or discover any new places.
Great alternative to new defunct apps...
As someone who began tagging and bookmarking restaurants and bars 5+ years ago, my favorite apps for it over the years have been Matchbook, SALT, etc... Sadly, all good things must come to and end and with them comes the search for a new way to organize my foodie desires.
Dish does the job better than most other apps on the market (trust me, I’ve shopped around). It’s easy to search for places and comes with a good handle of which ones *still* exist (manually importing my bookmarks has made me face the tragic fact that some of them are now closed! 😭). But my favorite functionality is that you can search through both your custom tags AND notes all at once. THIS. IS. EVERYTHING.
Potential improvements that would really up the ante at this point are :
- the ability to create custom locations that don’t come up in searches.
- custom bookmark folders
- a functionality to “follow” another user’s lists, à la Vivino.
Otherwise a great app made (almost) perfectly for its purpose!
Need more
I like the easy use
I do agree with the above - need to separate by city.
Lastly I’d like to manually add a restaurant that doesn’t come up automatically!
Thank you
So why 5 stars?
I rate this app 5 stars due to its simplicity of design. So many apps out there are trying incredibly hard with useless tools. They don’t think about the “user friendliness” factor. I appreciate this app. Thank you!
Saving my favorite spots with ease!
Love this app! Helps me remember all my favorite restaurants when traveling and when friends make recommendations I just simply save it. Overall great experience!
This could be awesome with some tweaks
So why 3 stars? For starters, only being able to sign up and log in with Facebook is silly and makes me feel like this is just trying to target me for ads. I have a separate food related email that isn’t connected to Facebook and I would have rather that been my log in.
Some other suggestions would be customizable folders. So I could maybe separate things by city or type of food. I know there are tags that I can set, and that leads me to my next suggestion.
Tag presets, maybe I could set them or have a recently used list or even what tags other users have used for that restaurant would be pretty convenient.
I could easily be swayed into giving more stars. I’m only on day 1 and this is what I’ve come up with so far.
Awesome design!
I love how clean this is! Im a “foodie” so having a clean and simple app that lets me organize my next food spot is great! Can’t wait to see this grow!
