I’ve worked with old- school hardware drum machines like the Alesis SR16 in the past and more recently used REX2 sample files in a DAW sequencer to create more sophisticated backing tracking tracks but I wanted to simplify the whole process for casual looper jams without having to power-up a whole bunch of additional gear. Very happy with this. Within 10 minutes I was happily familiar with the apps functions and already creating the perfect beats. Quite a bit of variety in the sounds too, and happy to discover you can edit individual hits within a preset kit to get exactly what you need for a quick and satisfying jam track. Only draw back, so far, and it's a biggie, is its inability to use an external midi device such as IRig to control start and stop functions and inability to transfer drum tracks from master device to iPhone (iPhone only exports). Additionally, there is a lack of advice on which type of information (AAC/Audio) is best for saving so the drum track data can be re-used in the master device, should you need to re/renter your 'hard earned' songs (i.e. - you lose your device and all songs!) Ableton means nothing to me - yet. On Song, that beautiful app, is a great example - easy to use with external devices!there is also a general lack of information on the DM1 on the internet but this has not been reflected in my rating. If they can resolve my issues, another star is waiting. As a coach. I will be advising others of the same! However, Thank you.
