Dumbify

Dear App Developers, thank you very much for this amazing app, it helped clean up my phone and reduced mental messiness. There is one thing however that stops me from rating Dumbify 5 Stars and that’s the Color of the widgets. Please offer a completely black version so we can use our oled screens and to remove unwanted light. Thank you for reading.

Habe mir die App in einer Kurzschlussaktion heute gekauft und in Kombination mit der iPhone internen Farbeinstellung auf Schwarz-Weiß, sowie Screenzen (kostenlos, App-Zeit Beschränkung) eingerichtet. + Es gibt kurze Erklärvideos + 3 Widgets reichen auf jeden Fall + Wenn Dumbify eine App direkt gespeichert hat, z.b. die Foto App, dann öffnet sich diese fast ohne Verzögerung, dass ist echt cool - Es können gerne noch mehr Apps hinzugefügt werden, die man direkt, also ohne URL oder Shortcut, hinzufügen kann - Eine Erklärung, wie man die URL Schemes der Apps besser rausfindet wäre sehr praktisch. Manche haben natürlich einfach keine, das ist auch ok. Es geht mittels Shortcut natürlich auch, allerdings öffnet sich dann immer erst kurz die shortcut und dann erst die gewünschte App… Außerdem ist die dumbify App bei Nutzung des Widgets auch immer im Hintergrund geöffnet, dass ist weder positiv noch negativ behaftet, allerdings für den alltäglichen Gebrauch und das regelmäßige schließen aller Apps wichtig zu wissen. Ich werde es auf jeden Fall ausprobieren, danke an die Entwickler*innen!

Am Anfang funktioniert es gut aber irgendwann muss man ständig die Kurzbefehle neu einrichten, weil sie nicht mehr gefunden werden können.

I like the whole appearance. The setup is ok, but could be designed easier. There is one major issue tho. When I open apps via dumbify (or dumbify is running in the background), apps like telegram are super buggy. I can’t scroll or type text properly. And when swiping up, to see all open apps, it is also buggy. This does not happen when dumbify is closed. I would really liked that fixes please! (iPhone X, ios 16.7.10 🤡)

I want to say thank you for putting all the work in this beautiful app! I can really see that you’ve been working passionately on this. Two things came to my mind when setting it up: 1st If you had two different sized widgets you could fill up the whole home screen with two widgets and have more apps listed on the first site of the Home Screen. That might not be in everyone’s design interest but to me it would come in quite handy to not need a second Home Screen site for showing more apps 2nd It would be absolutely fantastic if you could set the different widgets up separately. E.g. having the possibility to align the apps in the first widget different than the ones in the second. All the best and thank you!

You are paying for a widget and blank background. Custom shortcuts are super buggy. It also doesn’t really dumbify because you will still have access to app library. There’s no functions to block apps for example. Waste of money

Please make it possible that the app widget gets dark when the system is set to dark mode, automatically. Other widgets do this so it should be possible.

Hätte nicht gedacht, dass die App so simpel ist und trotzdem genau das erzielt, was sie soll - nämlich meinen Home Bildschirm minimalistisch und ablenkungsfrei zu halten. Ich wünsche mir noch für meine Lieblings-Apps Things 3 und iA Writer eine Verknüpfung innerhalb der App (ohne eigenen Shortcut anzulegen). Wouldn't have thought that the app would be so simple and still achieve exactly what it's supposed to - keeping my home screen minimalist and distraction-free. I would still like to have a shortcut within the app for my favorite apps Things 3 and iA Writer (without having to create my own shortcut).

The app inherently doesn’t change anything on your phone but only creates an illusion that you have dumbed down your phone. Would not recommend. Great idea poorly executed. I also understand that due to apples policies there is no actual way of turning the phone “dumb”.

IOS handys sind sehr schwer zu modifizieren, die App ist ein Meisterwerk alle möglichen internen Funktionen auszunutzen und so einen minimalistischen Launcher zu bauen. Das setup braucht ist daher nicht super einfach, aber ist wahrscheinlich das beste was man auf IOS derzeit hinbekommt. In-App Tutorials machen das setup gut verständlich, es dauert alles nur ein bisschen. In meinem Empfinden sollte man außerdem seine settings bezüglich notifications und suche sehr genau angucken und adjustieren, diese App ist nur ein Baustein davon sein Handy zu einem "dumb phone" zu machen. Das resultat ist fantastisch, die Bedienung geht einwandfrei und mein Handy erscheint mir jetzt schon wieder mehr wie ein Werkzeug als ein Entertainment Ungeheuer.
