Now it’s only useful to Evernote subscribers 🤷🏽‍♂️

Thankfully now you can just use the inbuilt document scanner in the native iOS Notes app

Click into a note, select the context menu (circle icon with 3 dots) > “Scan”

It does the same auto framing, lighting, cropping as scannable.

Before Evernote took over, this app was wonderful. It made scanning physical documents and sending them via email in a PDF format so easy!

Now that Evernote has taken over, you cannot do this simply task (which is what got its popularity) without having to pay for it..

This app used to be amazing - used it all the time. Now it’s been bought by Evernote there’s no more quick scanning and emailing or saving PDFs without pairing with Evernote and subscribing for £156/year(!!!) which is ludicrously expensive for casual use. Really angry about it.

This used to be a decent free app for scanning documents, but it recently switched to a subscription service. Without a subscription you can still scan, but you can’t send the scan or save it to anywhere except Evernote. Unless you pay £2.99 per week for the privilege. I understand that sometimes subscriptions are needed, to pay for server costs etc, but all the processing for this is local to your phone, so charging a subscription for this service is ridiculous. 

I used to be a hardcore Evernote premium user, but this kind of price gauging made me leave. Now there is a far better note taking app that is not subscription based that I use (I’m not sure if I can recommend other apps here, but it is by someone called Alfons…).

For scanning documents, avoid this app.

Talk about the death of an app. From a once highly convenient scan and send system to now requiring a separate app with an account system in order to take that scanned document and actually do anything with it. And to top it off, this original scanning app has the gall to ask you for a weekly premium subscription if you want to share your scanned documents from the scanning app directly. I don’t want to make an account or download a separate app, I just want to scan my document and the email the whole thing, like how it was.
