EyeTV

As I have found to my cost (and seemingly that of many other users given the very poor feedback) this app is not fit for the purpose with which it was intended. Like so many long-suffering early Elgato adopters I have found Geniatech’s approach to after-sales care on EyeTV devices lacklustre in the extreme and it is hardly surprising that little has been done in terms of maintaining app development either. I will be periodically checking on the progress, if any, of this item in terms of development but given that its last update was some 2 years ago would be inclined to give any Geniatech app a very wide berth for the time being.

It’s tragic what Geniatech have done to the Eye TV product since they bought it from Elgato. The iPad version no longer works properly. The new 64 bit version for MacBook doesn’t either. If you try to record, it doesn’t stop recording until your HD runs out of space! They have no answers when you contact them - just reinstall it and try again!!! Used to be a favourite and now it’s totally unreliable. I don’t think I’d pay for any further upgrades. Very disappointing!

Updating my Mac to Catalina meant having to fork out for the 64-bit version of eyetv. Unfortunately this doesn't play nicely with the iOS app: trying to open any recording results in a 'this recording has not been prepared for iPhone access...' error even when it had been prepared in the previous version of eyetv. Geniatech admit as much on their website. Therefore the archive is not remotely accessible. Total waste of money.

Used to be great but there’s now no way of advancing the guide to the next day. We use it to schedule programs on the TV upstairs but can only do it for the current day now. Please fix!

Update seems to have stopped the stuttering when I first open a Channel, working well now

The Eye tv hardware connected to my iMac will no longer connect to my iPad through this app. Beware if you were expecting to stream to an iOS device.

Issues issues issues, since elgato sold eyetv the iOS/Mac apps are just going down hill. Currently the iOS can't connect to the Mac OS app, and the Mac OS app does not auto sync to guide any longer.

This used to be a perfect iPhone and iPad companion to the EyeTV software, but I can't get the new version to display any schedules. It lists all the channels I have in my iMac setup, and it allows me to play them live, but I no longer get the schedules and can therefore also no longer order a recording on my iMac from my iPhone or iPad, which I could before and which was brilliant. Hope they sort it out soon. Unfortunately the link to the developer website only takes you to a German "Under Construction" holding picture, so I can't reach anyone to complain to. May try via the iMac softwarr.

I’ve used this app for some years along with its OS X counterpart. Now this (IOS) app has pretty well stopped working. I can no longer get the remote access to work - it tells me it was unable to configure the router. As others have reported this problem it seems safe to assume that the problem is with the app, not with all our routers. The other problem is that I am pretty well unable to set or cancel future recordings from IOS. It will work for some channels but not for others. I can set/unset them in the OS X app. It’s to do with the channel rather than individual programmes. Either i can schedule any programme on a channel or non. I have tried using a different account but this hasn’t worked. These problems seem to have started recently since another company took over EyeTV from Elgato.
