The app requires full photo library permission to take a picture. If you select “limited access to selected photos and ADD photos” it gives a message that says “no photo access adjust in settings”. It will only take a picture with full access.  If I have to give the app permission to go through all of my photos and data in order to use it I’m returning the camera. No other app requires full permission to add photos.

Seems like the rating of this app is higher than it ought to be. I looked over all of the reviews and at least 1/3 of them are 1 star with the same complaint, and the same canned response. But it doesn’t sound like any change for the better occurred in 2+ years.  That is concerning.  Top quality companies stand by even their oldest products. (Mercedes is a good example)

Anyhow the app itself does its job as far as being a thermal camera goes for the model of camera I have (FLIR one pro gen3 iOS), but it would be nice if there were some more features.  (Time lapse, better integration with laptop software (that doesn’t cost $200 per year), a way to graph or at least export data would be nice).  I think for the price that this camera is, more features could be included.

I’ve been using my iPad mini with my original FLIR One camera that connected onto the iPhone 5, I got a female to male extension so that I could have the screen propped and the sensor further forward. I can’t update with my iPad mini and trying to use the older version of the app just keeps kicking off once the sensor starts. I’ve enjoyed this set up in my field for quite some time and it seems that nobody is happy with the outcome of this.. it’s been years and nothing has changed

Barely functional. App disconnects from device (Flir Edge Pro) every 30 to 60 seconds and doesn’t reconnect reliably. Image hangs every second or two taking 2 to 10 seconds to restore movement, even on performance mode. Extremely frustrating when trying to take readings.

In all, it’s Ok, definitely not what you would expect for the hype and money.  Really could’ve done so much more with the device and app, too slow to really deploy on an inspection of any real scale or time managed.

App drains phone battery fast

FLIR device battery drains fast, probably under 2 hours of continuous use to a charge.

You have to go through a cumbersome re-connection process every time you turn off your phone screen.

Slow reading speed, very limiting.

Calibrating is cumbersome and mostly pointless, would be better if there was a dual view photo mode.

App is generic and quite limited from what I’d expect from FLIR.

I’ve had to send back my Flir One Edge back due to it not connecting with my iOS device. The new one worked great until an update came out. Now I’m able to connect it to my phone to use. Get a stand alone device and save yourself some time and money.

I sent my edge pro back for a warranty claim as it would not connect to my iPhone or iPad. I have an iPhone 15 and the iPad is only a year old. The new edge pro came in and still doesn’t connect to neither iOS device. Both the old edge and new edge pro will connect to my Android phones without issue.

App DEMANDS access to ALL of your photos and videos. The app REFUSES to let you save ANY photo or video unless you allow them to pilfer through your entire photo library.

Issue was reported in reviews over 1 year ago and acknowledged by the developers. The behavior of the app remains unchanged.

FLIR is being disrespectful of their customer’s privacy. Until they change, I’m returning this camera and refuse to purchase another FLIR product.
