Overall the UI is OK but what frustrates me about the app is the way it still looses state when you switch from one option to another and back again - eg say I was listening to Qobuz and a news flash comes up, I switch to to Internet Radio to hear whats happened and then switch back- what I was listening to on Qobuz has gone as has anything else I had queued up.. I fail to understand why this obvious use case hasn’t been sorted. -- JCW owner, 2025-01-01 ### *---- "Focal Bathy volume problem" I purchased a pair of Focal Bathy headphones from Richer Sounds and now having been using them regularly for over a month, I’ve noticed an issue with them. Basically it’s with the volume adjustment and finding the headphones either too quiet or too loud. I just want to be able to turn them up by a small amount, but the jump up in volume at this point is too large and overpowering. It goes from not quite loud enough" to "too loud" quickly, (in one volume step) there’s simply not enough adjustment range . At the moment, I just cannot enjoy listening to them. A firmware update could solve this problem as I’m not the only one with this issue. Having seen it described online by quite a few other uses on different headphone forums so it’s not only me. It turns out these headphones only have 16 increments of volume whilst most other headphones including my Sony’s have 32 increments of volume allowing for fine adjustment. -- Satan's Therapist, 2024-12-23 ### ***** "Waaaaay better" Blimey. Emailed support months ago and they know about the issue where the app takes an eon to load radio stations. Said an upgrade was being worked on but still we’re waiting. Having to use multiple apps to air play radio and in the unlikely event that the station I want to listen to finally loads, as soon as you use another source, you have to start the load again. Unreliable connection to AirPlay also and whilst I love the sound quality of both Naim devices, am seriously considering another brand. However the app seems unable to reliably stream BBC radio stations (although other internet radio stations remain available in the app as presets). Truly and definitely the worst app I have ever used. Main should be embarrassed that after all this time the app works like it was made by a 5 year old, and looks like it was developed in the 70s. New review after using for a while. Still the worst app I have ever used. Whoever designed it should give up app development! I have a fantastic wi-fi but the app spends all its time seeking the 3 “rooms” I have set up for my three Naim devices (for which I spent over £2000) whenever I fire up the app, and does the same at random times after it has finally started. Even aside from this, the app is totally unintuitive and you have to hunt for functions- multi room being a good example, and when changing presets it even asks if you would like to replace “empty” when adding a new one. So, Naim, I suggest you address this before the problem becomes acknowledged in the mainstream media. Given that this app is not optional but rather the only way to set and control the speakers, it is a complete letdown and affects all aspects of using the probably great hardware. Well it looks really pretty nice, colourful representations of the albums a much better presentation over the previous versions. Almost as good as the standalone version of Tidal…… 5/5 for looks absolutely fantastic. However, most of the time I cannot see either my Unitilite or my Muso. When I can see them I cannot connect to them. Sometimes it works if I have do the old turn the phone off and back on again. ….They appear after 10 mins or so. The Unitilite is there is works yea!!! Sounds pretty good possibly better than it did before…. Then 5 minutes later the Tidal interface has disappeared you cannot see or actually engage with the Unitilite through the app. The music plays on whatever your add to the list for a further 5 mins, but you cannot change volume, pause stop or move backwards or forwards and then it all freezes and nothing….stops playing and the App is blank…. The Muso has never worked through appears on the app occasionally…. Then turning anything on or off has sporadic effect, whether it’s the Unitilite or the Muso sometimes the kit appears sometimes it doesn’t usually it never allows you to engage with the kit interface or if it does you cannot do anything…. you can see the input selections but they do not work. And as stated I have got anywhere with the Muso…. I have even left it to see if works after 24 hours to settle down. Nope nada. So as in summary, a visually engaging App pretty, eye catching a great improvement over the previous versions but it’s bloody useless Beaty is only screen deep! If one is a cynic one wonders if this is to make people buy new kit…. Not exactly sustainability in action. So all in all, very disappointing. The previous versions may not have been pretty but they worked. Now I have an App taking up space on my phone and two bits of Naim kit taking up space in the house…. If I could reverse the update I would…. So optimistically, seems there are too many bugs for general release which hopefully Naim/Tidal sort in a week or two. More likely (given the slow development in the first place) just the amp with the vinyl or CD’s, as for the Muso!….DISAPPOINTED AND UNIMPRESSED. -- LostinScotland, 2024-10-10 ### ****- "Naim app" A significant improvement to the app. Worth noting is the overhaul to the radio app. Some of the hi def radio stations were slow to load/didnt load/not streamed in highest quality in previous versions of the app. I can now enjoy consistent high def FLAC. I’m aware that Amazon Music is not the premier high def streaming service but would love better integration so higher def files could be played. AirPlay 2 seems to limit streams through the Amazon app itself. Radio app has really transformed listening experience.
