It helped me not only see trends in my daily energy levels. It actually was part of the reason I was diagnosed with narcolepsy. It would show massive amounts of fatigue throughout my days but I didn’t “feel” tired. Little did I know my normal level of energy was similar the amount of energy a person has after a 24 hour shift of hard labor. I was so thankful for this being so important to my life I quickly backed the foci 2 as soon as I could! But now the app and device has gone down hill so much. I’ve sent so many requests for help that usually just get marked as solved without ever responding. Right now the app will not update your deep focus time unless you close the app completely and reopen it. It can be annoying when you just want to see how your day is going. My latest issue of my foci 2 not vibrating at all for any of the streaks I usually have 2, the focus slip and fatigue. This is a massive issue for me because the fatigue notifications helped track and warn of narcoleptic sleep attacks. I know it’s not designed for that purpose but it really helped me track it. I reached out through the app feedback on the 29th I’ve sent 3 messages adding info to the issue as I find out more and still have heard nothing back… I seriously love this device so much but it’s almost become unusable and it’s so upsetting. -- 8BitBrett, 2022-10-08 ### ****- "Software seems to be improving but too early to say" I will give it four stars for now and update this review after using it for a while. -- sgmiller, 2022-08-19 ### **--- "Potentially Useful Device" ... but poorly supported by the app. For instance, with the promise of reducing distraction, the app's Deep Work function is filled with distractions and expects you to concentrate while inhaling twice and exhaling once keeping pace with a metronome. Poor use of colors often making data and messages unreadable: light yellow font against a white background. On the history page, a blue graph tracks yellow data, blue also represents both calmness and tension. There's no thought of colors having consistent meaning. And that history, date specific page has tacked-on graphs of current data no matter what day the page heading says is displayed. Inefficient and inaccurate graphing. The app's history info that could be expressed in a simple graph is spread over four pages of meaningless shapes which to fully understand requires manual calculations. Indications shown in an hour may have occurred completely in another hour. A simple graph of focus might appear as a flat zero line or as maximally high with no vertical scale to warn users. The exact same data usually looks different in today's view of it from yesterday's view. The cumulative graph of focus often fails to match the data it's accumulating. The help text is wordy and redundant. With poor navigation: like straight line sequence with the only path to reach a specific topic is to start at the beginning again. At the end id a section you have to click a button to display the button to click to move ahead. They have a 100+ page document that tries to explain the app's use. It's necessary because of the app's design weaknesses. The document explains a page-sized flow chart in nearly a dozen places. The flow chart's message is that habits are habitual which doesn't require the flow chart or the 50 pages explaining it. Unfortunately this exhausting list is not exhaustive. There is much more wrong with the app. The Foci device, worn clipped to your waistband, can operate without the app. It vibrates to indicate various attention failures. Also would love to see practical strategies when the different levels of approaches are suggested when encountering various loops. I don’t understand and can’t find many of the other pages and can’t find any documentation to explain these other pages. Wish the developers would look at the Fitbit app to see how to design a clear, easy to understand app. This Foci app seems to be designed by nerds for nerds. -- Asatly, 2021-02-09 ### *---- "Full of bugs that make it unusable" I have owned a device since the beginning. The developers put very little effort into fixing bugs. I have had several recurring bugs. Eg, the device gets associated with ‘another’ account, without me changing any login details, and I have to reset it and go through the lengthy machine-learning process again. Currently the device stays at zero percent focus no matter what I do. Contacting the developers just leads to excuses, like ‘your app is not up to date’; which it is. As one of the first backers of Foci they’ve come a long way. I’d love to see how this application evolves over time. It does take some time for the machine learning component to reflect more precise information. Patience is needed in the beginning, but worth the effort when used daily. As a result it’s not clear if it’s actually doing anything. The status in the app never seems to match what I’m actually doing or feeling so I can’t say if the device is actually working. Really cool idea but seems too early to have released. Hoping it gets better with firmware and app updates in which case I’ll be glad to update my review.
