Friend in Need

Designed by Anglicare WA and the Apps People the Friend in Need App has been developed in consultation with people with lived experience and specialist practitioners. The App provides users with knowledge and confidence to have a supportive and meaningful conversation when they see someone going through a time of struggle.
Whilst having a conversation sounds simple when the topic is sensitive things can get a little more complicated so taking some time to think it through beforehand is wise. This App provides some tips on what makes a good conversation and directs you to what you need to know in the moment so that you can feel prepared and confident in offering support.
No matter what the Life Event the App provides you with the ‘need to know’ information so you can:
• Understand what it feels like – build empathy
• Learn what questions might be useful to figure out what is going on and how to help
• Get ideas about the kind of practical things you can do to help them
It also provides direct links to useful and relevant information, websites, services and other resources that are helpful to that particular life event.
How to use the App
You can set up a profile or use the App as a guest to access content on:
• General helping
• Life Event specific help
• Professional helper directory
• Emergency contacts
By setting up an account to create a profile you can also favourite information to refer back to next time.
