Garmin Pilot

Vollkommen überfrachtet. Nicht intuitiv. Synchronisierung zwischen IPad und IPad mini funktioniert nicht. Zusammen mit dem Premium Uprade eine Investition von 200 EUR für die Tonne. Zusätzlich noch die Garmin D2 Mach 1 Uhr…ebenso wenig intuitiv. O2-Messung ist absolut unzuverlässig. Das kann Apple deutlich besser. Ich bin maßlos enttäuscht. Sehr schade!

In General the best VFR- and IFR App if you don't need professional solutions for Jets. Works petfect with my Garmin 1000 nXI. Some minor bugs have still to be resolved but overall very satisfying.

Verbesserungspunkte: Bürgerliche Dämmerung kann nicht angezeigt werden (wichtig für Deutschland) Beim Playback eines Flugs kann man die Uhrzeit der aktuellen Aufzeichnung („wann waren wir am Final“) nicht sehen. Garmin Virb Kameraintegration ist fehlerhaft

Nachdem ich einige Apps verschiedener Anbieter getestet habe (Foreflight,Skydemon), kann ich sagen, dass Garmin Pilot für mich die übersichtlichste und intuitivste App ist, die sowohl zum VFR als auch IFR fliegen bestens geeignet ist. Sie ist preislich auf dem Niveau wie Foreflight, bietet dafür deutlich mehr.

Nach jedem iOS Update ist es das gleiche Spiel! Die App geht auf. Bleibt 10 Sekunden geöffnet und schließt sich dann automatisch. Wie kann es sein, dass das gleiche Problem nach jedem Update erneut auftritt lernen die Entwickler überhaupt nicht dazu? Dadurch wird die App unbrauchbar für jeweils einige Wochen, bis die Entwickler ein Patch programmiert haben. Äußerst ärgerlich, wenn man die App nutzt, um das Garmin 1000 im Flugzeug updaten zu müssen.

Diese App benötigt dringend (!) eine gründliche Überarbeitung. Mit jedem Update und Einführung immer neuer Funktionen wird die App langsamer und störanfälliger. Abstürze häufen sich, viele Funktionen funktionieren manchmal und dann wieder nicht. Würde man die Unzuverlässigkeit dieser App auf Cockpitinstallationen mit Garmin Geräten extrapolieren, würde man vom Kauf der exorbitant teuren Festinstallationen absehen und sich anderen Herstellen zuwenden. So schön und nützlich die Funktionsvielfalt dieser App ist, so wenig macht es Sinn die App immer weiter aufzubohren ohne alte Fehler zu beheben!

Thank you for the great app and the continous improvements! Could you please fix a bug: in the trip planning section I experience the problem that the selected autoroute can not be taken over. In the routing field it is only written ‚loading‘ and one can not continue. Thank you!

SafeTaxi is not available for a lot of smaller airports (at least in Germany). This is data SkyDemon and ForeFlight have. So you either have to pay for DFS charts (again in Germany), or source information about the layout of those airports from somewhere else. This point alone renders the app unusable for me unfortunately (bummer that I had to pay for the Premium subscription to find out). Besides that, I wish the layout of a lot of screens and some interactions would follow Apple’s human design guidelines more closely. There is definitely potential here, and I wish it would be already in a state where I could rely solely on it for VFR in Germany …

Version 11.1.4 when autorouter.aero is still finding acceptable routings in europe, Garmin pilot shows none. Sync of flightplans between ipad/ipad/iphone still not properly working: active flightplan with email confirmation is synced as „validated“, with next sync back to first ipad „filed“ disappears and shows „validated“. Getting the briefing of a flight with 700NM takes 20min. Last flight I got a navlog indicating wrong mileage by 300NM! Getting more and more difficult to operate with.

Nach sehr langer Nutzung dieser App war ich mit der stockenden Weiterentwicklung nicht mehr zufrieden. Deshalb habe ich zu ForeFlight gewechselt. Aber: Nachdem das Pilot Abo ausgelaufen war hatte ich auch keinen Zugriff mehr zu meinen Logbuchdaten. Das ist mehr als frech und bestätigt meine Entscheidung zum Wechsel.
