GedView

I have used this app for years, it is something my whole family and members of my tree download so they can see the new changes and deletions of their ancestors. Once a week I send a ged file so it can update. I use it when out and about for my notes and when I visit old graves. Instructions are easy to understand and use. It is a wonderful app, I would even pay for it.

Followed the instructions on exporting , it just hangs.

This is money well spent on a very good family tree app. Very pleased with it.

I was looking for an easy way to transfer my current family tree (from Heredis 2022 for Windows), plus all the sources and images associated with it, onto a mobile app. The Heredis mobile app was not up to the job, as it does not include the sources, their images and transcriptions on the uploaded data. This does the job perfectly - nothing is missing! Plus it is in an easy to use and pleasing interface and you can view information in so many different ways. To transfer the GEDCOM file with its associated images, you just need to have the images in the same folder as the GEDCOM file, and then convert this to a zip file. Then this zip file can be uploaded to your device using Wi-Fi or by several other methods. This will allow me to carry the most recent complete copy of my family tree around with me - incredible! Well worth the few pounds this costs.

I find GedView an excellent way of carrying a copy of my family history information around with me on my iPad. From time to time, I export a GEDCOM file from Family Historian, which is my main system, and copy it (simply as an email attachment) to the iPad. Then GedView will pick it up in a perfectly trouble-free way. So, when I’m away from home, for example in an archive, all the information I need is instantly available. I wouldn’t want to make GedView my principal piece of family history software (that doesn’t seem to be the designers’ intention, anyway) but it’s very good indeed at the job I use it for.

Excellent programme

Really like this genealogy app. I have been using it for some years. I have tried several more expensive ones but I keep coming back to this one. It is easy to find the person you are looking for even without using the search tool as the index is divided by family name. You can also export a gedcom by email which is really useful. It may not offer as many features as other apps but sometimes that is a good thing. The app is also very stable. Never crashed in all the time I have been using it. The only thing I would like added is the ability to sync between my ipad and iphone rather than doing it manually.

Excellent! I downloaded my completed family tree in no time (GEDCOM file). Really good help file with all the linkage you need. Upload easy too.

Absolutely brilliant! Does what it says, very easy to use, look forward to the updates for the iPad. Far better than many others that cost far more.
