Steady progress
This is a great simple app - I’ve just finished my third week and I’m gradually and more importantly safely building up my stamina without injury. It might feel a bit slow to begin with (my sister laughed at me when I said I was running in bursts of 1 min 30, but she can bog off!!), the progress I’ve already made is great. And it doesn’t feel unsustainable or that I won’t be able to keep it up.
I took off one star because when I’m listening to my audio book and the app interrupts to say ‘you’re half way through’ etc, the audiobook sometimes doesn’t start playing again.

I most certainly started off on the couch and I'm now half way through week 7 and I'm running the 25min runs with relative ease (I don't find running easy). I'm pretty amazed at what I can do now compared to how hard I found the initial weeks and I cannot recommend this app highly enough. The encouraging voice telling you that you only have 30secs, 10 secs left seems to have the right level of motivation. I did have to delay a couple of my runs by a few days but the app just rescheduled everything automatically. The only thing I would ask for is runkeeper style maps and elevation plans to keep a record of what I've achieved. Week 6 was a bit of a shock In terms of run duration increase but I'm over that now. Update: I'm now 40, still a geek (the app did not help with either of these) but I'm now happy running. I don't do long distances but a half hour 5km a few times a week keeps me happy and healthy. Great app
Fantastic app, first week done using this app and I like how it’s very gentle over playing music with the instructions. Simple yet effective.
Three weeks from ‘I can’t run’ to ‘I can’t stop’!
Love this app! I started indoors on a secondhand treadmill and I hated every second of the runs in-between the ‘rest’ walks but the gentle and encouraging voiceover got me through - with help from Spotify playlists - and after 3 weeks I was already trying to run longer than the intervals plan. And now I’m out in the fresh air and can run for 4K or more! Still don’t love running but somehow I just want to do it every day; feelin’ good. Thank you, Get Running team.
Honestly, worth every penny and more
I am not a runner by any means but I really wanted to try... my mother in law recommended this app and I’m so glad she did! It has changed everything !!
Best app for running
Started Couch to 5K last week but heard this app was better so downloaded it to take a look... WOW the difference between the 2 apps is night and day... the being told you have 30 seconds left and 10 seconds left makes a hell of a difference compared to the virtually zero instructions on the BBC app.. I can’t recommend this app high enough....... editing this review because yesterday I just ran 5K for the first time in my life and I’m 53 years old :-)
Couldn’t recommend more highly
This review is in two parts. Firstly covering to couch to 5k programme, followed by this app specifically.
Anyone wanting to get into running, I couldn’t recommend this programme more highly. Having just finished my final run I feel so proud of myself. I’ve genuinely gone from struggling to run for a minute at a time (which sounds ridiculous now!) to being able to comfortably run for half an hour. There were weeks when I wanted to give up, but as you see yourself progress it becomes addictive.
Whilst there are many apps that cover the same programme, I personally loved the simplicity of this one. For me if functioned perfectly the entire time and I feel I will continue to use this app to have the encouraging voice and time pointers as I run. For people who are interested in knowing their distance covered and pace I ran Strava alongside Get Running on my later weeks and this worked fine.
I’m not really one to go to the effort of writing reviews but I felt the need to encourage anyone who’s considering this to give it a go. Honestly if I can do it anyone can!

I’ve used this App around five/six years ago and it is absolutely brilliant. I’ve always wanted to run but didn’t have the strength and ability at the time.
It’s brilliantly paced with a friendly voice and visually well mapped out so that it doesn’t overwhelm you and you feel that your goal is achievable.
I found that it’s best running app to get you running.
I started from being a non runner to eventually doing over 10Ks on weekends and even my first Great North Run in 2019
I am v unfit and this is highly motivating!
I’ve just completely week 2. I am overweight and do no exercise, my fitness level is rubbish. Always wished I could run 5k so decided to give this a go. Actually amazed by how much I can push myself with the help of this app. Great that you can listen to music over it and it counts you down so you know how long left there is to run, which helps you to keep going. Would highly recommend!
