Google Assistant

It hasn’t been improved in 5 years. It is poor at following directions. I have google displays (4 of them) and they basically turn lights off and on but fail frequently. It poorly connects to Sirius XM. The cameras don’t work half the time. It’s a big disappointment.

It works 70% of the time but I feel think the Google assistant technology could use some updating. It was really advanced 7 or 8 years ago but it hasn’t really changed since then. With the improvements to Siri and now all the AI technology coming out, I’m disappointed Google Assistant hasn’t changed much. For example: -it doesn’t integrate with Apple texts, phone calls, Facebook messenger, or WhatsApp. -It can’t integrate with Apple reminders/lists or outlook tasks. -There’s no Apple Watch app to add Google Assistant. -It won’t tell you about your day unless you use Gmail for your calendar. -When I tell it to play the news sometimes the speaker keeps listening then hears itself/ the news anchor and then tries to respond again 🤦‍♀️. -I can’t bring up TV shows with a verbal prompt once you have multiple profiles set up in a streaming service. Like why can’t I match my Netflix profile to my voice and my husband match his profile to his voice? Or why can’t we say who’s profile we want google to use? -Recently the alarms will ring once and then the display will continue to show the alarm but there’s no more ring tone/music playing. -Sometimes I get a prompt on my phone from the assistant app asking if the right device responded. When I click the notification it never takes me anywhere to actually answer that question. -Almost weekly my partner and I tell the Google to set an alarm just to find out later the alarm was never set.

I can create an vocal shortcut in ipados 18 and I can us AssitiveTouch to be a google assistant button and in ipados 18 you can turn off Siri when you use vocal shortcuts

Very excited to try out this new voice assistant app and have found it quite frustrating to use. I don’t know if my expectations for it were too high or if it is lack of optimization on my part. I would assume that, for example, asking the Google assistant to open and enter information into a new note in Google Keep would not be a challenging process and yet the app constantly cuts me off with results it seems unable to recognize the group open note in Google Keep or set new task in task as it is unaware of the rest of the software suite. I would assume that a multi billion dollar corporation like Google is able to put out a speed of software that is pre-integrated but if somehow I’ve missed some sort of settings that I need to do maybe that’s on me

Not exclusive to this app, just the Google Assistant in general rarely finds any information for my questions. Usually, it just says that it doesn’t understand even though the question was very straightforward into the point. 🤷‍♀️ I used to use my Google assistant almost daily but noticed this has gotten worse in the last few months, to the point I feel I don’t need my Google home anymore.

Set up a google routine, however local news is not available. They give some choices to add however none are local. Seems odd you can get news from 3 provinces over, or from other places on the planet but not from within a 200 Mike radius.
